I will be filling my ROC on the 15th of this month and our joint income tax return 1040 is just a copy generated by the computer we got online. We do not have the transcript of the income tax return as what the discussion here is talking about. We used the same forms when we apply for I-130 before, and there was no problem. Is this a new guidelines from USCIS to submit the transcript of income tax return? It would take 10 days to have it and I am late already to comply with that so what should I do.

I believe sending tax-transcripts are better, and here is why I think they are better than sending a copy of your tax-return: tax-transcripts comes directly from the IRS and hence it is a proof that you actually filed your tax-return....tax-returns are filled out by you(or your accountant) and USCIS assumes that you actually filed your return. But in reality I think they accept both.

If you're late and have compiled a packet to be send out, only 'lacking' the IRS-transcript then don't wait for it. Rather on time and missing the transcript than complete and late. Worst that can happen is an RFE. In that case they'll allow you to send the transcript afterwards. Do go ahead ordering the transcripts anyway, they're free so no problem in doing that.

I did same thing when I saw a RFE letter was send out in my case. Afterwards it turned out there was no RFE but a mistake from USCIS (See post on Strange biometrics letters). Still it feels good to be prepared for a RFE.
