HI,

We just recieved packet 3 via e-mail and phone call. A lady called to confirm our e-mail and e-mailed us packet 3. DS-156 DS-156k DS-157 DS-230. With no directions, and a link for medical information. On the us embassy website it says all applicants fill out this new DS-160 and that it replaces the DS-156,156k, and one other I can't remeber. Should I call and find out or should I fill out the DS-160 to bring to the interview and fill out all the others to send to the emmbassy? Or should I just use the ones that were given to us in the e-mail. Also we are to send through the mail copies of everything to the embassy and take originals to the interview with us correct? Also LOL..My mom is co-sponsoring me and she is married. How does that work? They live in the same household and file taxes together. Thanks for any help. This part seems more confusing to me than the first filing for petition.

From the department of State:

Visa applicants must submit a completed DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories (
except for K
, N, S, T, and U categories,
which still use the Form DS-156,
Nonimmigrant Visa Application).

Always go by what your embassy tells you for this part of the process. They all have their own set-up for how they want to receive documents. Did your embassy email say to mail the supporting docs or give iinstructions to bring them to the interview? I know the form says to send documents with it, but most embassies prefer to receive them at the interview. Contact the embassy if they didn't give you their instructions.

Your mother could show her separate income with her W2, pay stubs, or a letter from her employer stating her job and salary.

There is no directions that came with the e-mail.

There is not letter accompanying the forms? That's strange. Well, my first suggestion is to do a VJ search for Kingston Embassy Packet 3. There is an older version with directions on here somewhere. After reviewing that copy of the packet, email the Kingston embassy explaining that you did not receive directions and want to verify the information you've been told. Hope that helps.

Hi!

We just went through this process…

Fill out the DS-230 part 1 and email it back.

Once the embassy receives the DS-230 part 1 they will issue the interview date and packet 4.

At the interview bring the DS-156, DS 156k and DS-157. You do not need to fill out the DS-160.

No, we didn’t mail anything to the embassy. Take all of your supporting documents and applications with you to the interview.

You will need to take the appointment letter to the medical so I would hold off on making the appointment right now.

Out of the three options to take the medical call your local one to check the prices. You pay for the medical exam and any vaccines he may need.

We were told to bring at least 20,000jmd and ended up paying 15,000.

Also, the instructions say the visa application is $350usd. When we went to the bank to pay for the visa it ended up being $393usd so be prepared.

It depends on the conversion I was told. Tell Nattoy to take his passport with him to the bank.

I’m not sure about the co-sponsoring information.

Here is the link for the DS-156 http://evisaforms.state.gov/

Wish you the best!
