I didnt register as Democrat as anyone can vote for anyone in Washington State.

Even in Primaries

I suppose I could vote for the dopiest Republican in a primary just to mess it up for them and give them a poor candidate

However, Republicans stand unopposed in Central Washington as this is 'hang em high' cowboy country

Who can I vote for ? The Democrats are leaving the center ground unattended and are going after sympathizers for illegal immigrants for cynical reasons as they see the Hispanic vote as important in the future and the Democrats are just showing they have no principles and would chase Charles Manson's vote if they thought it would help them.

If there is no sensible 'left of center' political party in the US then I have no outlet for my vote.

I am as turned off by the nutty left as I am by the grisly right

I believe in taxing the super rich more and not encouraging illegals and freeloaders. Who can I vote for ?

this is why i've always called dems "vote whores." they will support any group just for the votes... it is why GB won a second term, the man from MA would stoop very low to appeal for votes, no principals at all.

Life..... Nobody gets out alive.

A party's platform is a general set of positions to identify the overall stance of the party. It does not obligate every member of the party to agree with every plank of that platform, nor does every sitting member (House Rep, Senator, State representative, etc.) agree with every statement or vote on legislation consistent with every statement.

We have two major parties, and they establish platforms on a wide array of domestic and foreign policy issues.

Inevitably each of us as individuals are going to find things we disagree with in the stated platforms of both parties. The way I approach it, and I think most registered party members do, is to find a party that best overlaps with your personal views. Support the stances you agree with, and work to change from within those that you don't. Rejecting a party outright because they don't pass a certain litmus test on a certain specific issue will leave you outside, as you've found. Not that there's anything wrong with being an unregistered voter but you really shouldn't be so surprised or outraged to find that being the case.

This is what I have always done - in American speak I hold my nose and vote for the least loathsome.

I am highly politicized really but not in the style of being totally for one party right or wrong as so many are.

I was in the UK when Harold Wilson was elected - 'The white heat of the technological revolution' and 'The first 100 days'. He looked like humpty dumpty and he sat there and disappointed his supporters for 14 years until he thought the secret service was going to kill him so he packed it in and went and retired to the Scilly Isles (correct name).

When I first saw Obama and his stuff I was similarly impressed with his messianic style but he had the feel of an accountant that used to work for me. Too bloody cautious and fearful and small minded and no killer instinct. Now he has thrown it all away. 100% of his promises are all for nothing. All gob basically

I really dislike most unions and lefty organizations as they are so controlling and corrupt too. However, I am a huge fan of the National Health System and I think it's the most staggeringly wonderful thing that ever happened in Western Politics. The returning troops threw out that war monger Churchill and voted in a left government that gave the UK this jewel. The father of the NHS was Aneurin Bevan and my great grandmother was Sarah Bevan from the Welsh Borders. I would be so proud if I was related

So I have selective leftist politics though I have always made my way as a capitalist. A bit like George Soros or Warren Buffet - very similar politics to mine.

Sounds like I need to stay a floating voter and tell them what they need to do if they are going to get my vote and NOBODY is going to own it and use my subscription to further illegal practises.

Single issue voting is a valid stance if it's important enough and supporting illegal immigration and enticing people to do it with the promise of driver's licenses and free education etc etc is something up with which I shall not put.

I think my best bet is to keep my powder dry and see how it goes. I would vote for Alan Grayson but he is losing his seat for saying what he thinks and not being populist. Seems that is the fate of all honest people in politics.

If a party can encourage law breaking in one area, then why not another such as kidnap of foreign nationals and torture ? By encouraging disrespect for the law, the Democrats have lost my trust before they got it.

I am sure you know that the AUK was bankrupt and the U.S. gave a huge loan to get that system up and running. Plus we forgave totally all war loans as y'all were bankrupt in the first place and could never repay it. Oh, and your welcome from the U.S. taxpayers. And also that the UK is now talking about getting out of the NHS as y'all are again in heavy debt. I think the last I heard the proposal was to just give some money to the provinces or something and letting them deal with that and the national government get out. Socialism costs a lot of money and there is only so much rich can pay.crying.gif
