Ciudad Juarez and Proof of Support

Hi I would just like to briefly describe my financial situation and seek advice as it pertains to the Juarez Consulate in Mexico. I am applying for a K-1 Visa.

1. Income: I have had a part-time job since October which has become full time in December with a salary of 40k per year. (When I worked part-time I was still above 125% of the federal poverty guidelines).

2. Taxes: I did not file taxes the past two years because I was in school, but I do have transcripts from years before that. Of course they are not very significant because all I had was "college" jobs. (I graduated in 2008 from college and then in 2010 from a specialized school).

3. Bank: I have about 10k+ in the bank for savings.

My questions are:

1. Will I need a co-sponsor?

2. What specifically does Juarez look for and are they pretty strict?

You should be fine since you are now full time and making well over the poverty line. So no you won't need a co-sponser. Just get a letter from your HR department at your work on company letter head stating your anually salary , your position, and your start date. Maybe also include a couple of copies of your pay check stubs. And also couldn't hurt to include a letter from your bank stating how much you have in savings. I don't believe you'll need a copy of your tax records but it all depends on the Embassy. You can file up to three years back on your taxes and since you said you weren't working you shouldn't have to worry about owing taxes. :bonk: (don't quote me on that part) You can just call the IRS and speak with them about what your options are for filing for the past couple of years. Hope this helps. here is a section from VJ that talks about this stuff.
