Not fair that you won't have an Irish passport :( Were any of your relatives born over there? Granparents???

j-

totally off subject but I notice you are from Boston-I am going there this weekend(first time) any good Irish places you can recommend? I have heard of a few but I thought I would ask.

About the passport- My Irish-born relatives are 1 generation too far removed for me to get citizenship that way. Oh well, the only real issue will be that when we travel in Europe as a family I will have to wait in the long line of non-EU citizens while my family goes through quickly and waits on the other side!

And about Boston- What kind of places are you looking for? There are a lot of cool pubs in Southie (South Boston, not to be confused with the South End as they are different neighborhoods) and Dorchester with an Irish feel to them. There are LOTS of places that are at least decorated with Irish stuff and fun to hang out in. I hope you have fun here, I think its a great city!

That is ashame about the citizenship....at least the rest of your clan will get through quickly ;)

I heard about Southie-definetly plan on going there. My cousin & I are going for a girl's weekend(God knows I need a break from all this immigration ####### for a few days) and the flights were so cheap we decided on Boston. I have heard great things about the city & can't wait to go. I hear there are tons of Irish. We are staying in the "financial district" but from what I hear-we are a cb ride away from most places-can't wait

I have dual citizenship. The US allows to have up to 3 citizenships. Your children should also have dual citizenship seen there father is Irish. I don't know about Irish law, but the that is the law in the US.

Actually, you can have as many citizenship as there countries that could recognize you as one. There was one poster on here who had 5 passports and her aunt had 6.
