Advice needed I-130 beginner

Hello all,

Glad to be here!

I have got a green card (not a citizen) and plan to marry my girlfriend next year. My wish is to be able to bring her to the US.

Anyone else here in my situation? (green card only)

The first step is of course, marriage.

Then send I-130 asap. I'm a total beginner with this procedure. Someone told me to send the form and a delcaration from a third party who assisted our marriage. Is that all?

Do I have to be in the US thru the entire process?

I'm guessing there must be a time processing difference between citizens and permanent residents, slower for the residents.

I'm a total beginner, any adivce will be appreciated. I really need a I-130 guiude for dummies, if there is such a thing :)

it can be done but as far as im aware it takes a lot longer if you arent a citizen! How longt ill you can become a USC?

Also you, can go visit her, and she can visit you, but i dont know how that would effect the validity of your green card (do you need to spend a certain amount of time per yer IN the US!)

Just so you know the last I heard the priority date for family 2A is August 2010. I dont know who you could get to verify the time, as the USCIS helpline is notoriously UNhelpful!
