I got a lovely email today from the DHS office in at the US embassy in Guatemala. Just wanted to share its helpful list!

Hope all goes well! (Guatemala.Inquiries@dhs.gov)

In order for you (the PETITIONER) to file an I-130 immigrant visa petition for your spouse, child/children, parents and/or bothers or sisters (the BENEFICIARIES) at our office, YOU MUST BE A UNITED STATES CITIZEN RESIDING IN GUATEMALA FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS and you have to provide the following documents:

1.Form I-130 duly completed for each BENEFICIARY.

2.Original marriage certificate (see note below).

3.Original birth certificate of BENEFICIARY (see note below).

4.Original or certified copies of divorce decrees or death certificates of any previous spouses of both PETITIONER and BENEFICIARY (see note below).

5.Your U.S. birth certificate or copy of your naturalization certificate.

6.Form G-325A (biographic information) for both PETITIONER and BENEFICIARY (not required for BENEFICIARIES under 14 years of age).

7.One colored passport-sized picture for both PETITIONER and BENEFICIARY.

8.Original and copy of the passport of the PETITIONER and BENEFICIARY.

9.Proof that the PETITIONER is living in Guatemala for the past six months or is a Guatemalan resident.

10.If you are filing this petition for your spouse, you must submit any type of documentation that may evidence your union (such as joint ownership or property, joint tenancy of a common residence, financial resources, wedding/travel pictures, etc.)

11.DHS petition fee of $420.00 for each BENEFICIARY (only cash or equivalent in quetzales or credit card is accepted).

NOTE: ANY DOCUMENT IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH AN ENGLISH TRANSLATION WHICH HAS BEEN CERTIFIED BY A COMPETENT TRANSLATOR PER TITLE 8, CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, PART 204 1(F)(3). The translator must be registered with a registration number and must be certified by the Ministry of Education of Guatemala.

To submit your petition please go to window # 5, Monday through Thursday at 1:00 p.m. The beneficiary as well as the petitioner must be present while filing the I-130 petition.

If the petition is approved by DHS, the beneficiary will be given Packet 3 by the U.S. Consular Section, which provides information on the documents she/he will need to gather for a final interview.

That may be helpful to some but you posted it in the K3 forum. You cannot obtain a K3 visa by filing any petition through a Consulate, or for that matter, in any way at this time. This information would be for a CR or IR visa category not K.

Hello! I Have a question. If he petitioner is currently residing in Belize right on the border of Guatemala is it possible to file the I-30 packet here ? ?? ( Since I think that there is no Field Office in Belice ) Or does it have to go to the United States?
