You forgot after working 80 hours per week, never taking a vacation, and someday you die of overwork from a heart attack in the office on a sunday afternoon. The feds still will want that death tax to pay for the welfare families that laughed at you all the time for years.

I have asked my wife to please start taking at least one day off a week. She said she would when I do.whistling.gif

23 percent of owners have not taken a planned vacation that lasted at least a week in more than four years

According to a May poll by Rasmussen, 45 percent of small business owners work six or seven days a week, more than twice the 19 percent of the general population who have a similar scheduleOne in 4 small business owners said they are working more hours because of the economic downturn25 percent of owners indicated they work 10 to 12 hours per day

Just wow! What a RNW fantasy scenario!????

You use rent to own online as your source? I am on call, though generally work 40 hours a week, 24/7.

No bonus. Comp hours only. Employees work too you know?

Also I like how the Socialists like to vilify the business when it shows a profit and their now take home pay. As an example lets take that 400,000.00 figure that owner now has and is going to take home and splurge. That business owner now has to try to realize what they need to live on and then figure how much business expense they want to expend to keep their business viable. Do they need any new equipment? Do they need to do any refurbishment on the interior or exterior? Would they like to maybe do something for their hard working employees and maybe give a certain percent to them as a bonus? There are many decisions to be made here and each will be affecting whether that business will be hiring any new people. Their decisions also mean that any and all services or spending will determine those companies they would of been expending their profits on will be hiring. That 400,000 is a perceived profit and not reality at all.

All of your examples (new equipment, refurbishment, employee bonuses) are not affected by the proposed tax increase.

You pay taxes on your profits - or to be precise, your taxable income - not your sales, inventory or operating costs.

Very affected on whether to do capital improvements or do any hiring at all. Guess it would take other business owners to understand.

If it was just me getting hit by the extra tax and that was all then I know I can adjust accordingly.

But I have say 25-30 suppliers, contractors or firms that I deal with to be in business. Most of them are also small business owners and will now be hit with that extra tax. Each of their suppliers are also small business owners and the same. Each of them the same and so on down the line. Some will just absorb the cost but some will pass it on down the line. I have no idea now what my extra costs overall will be now so I need to put off any hiring or capital improvements till a later date until I have a grasp on this

That tax has not just hit me but most small businesses. Even the small businesses that are too small to be hit has the same problem of having to deal with other suppliers or whoever that are hit by an extra tax and thus has to maybe pass along that cost.

It is easy to say then to just raise prices but I have competitors that would love my customers to come to them. Most of mine customers are also small business owners and probably getting hit with an extra tax and would be unhappy if I raise their costs.

This is a fallacy.

For a guy working 80-100 hours a week and on call 24/7 you seem to have plenty of time to offer your wisdom here Lost...

Good reason NOT to work 80 hours per week, take frequent vacations, stay home on Sunday afternoons and spend all your money before you die. Better yet, be $1 million in debt.

I try very hard not to work more than 25 hours per week, never post when I am at work, take vacations at least once per month, even if just for a few days. I have more time to post my wisdom then. I could probably be more wealthy, but we live according to our income and that's that. My heirs have nothing to fear from inheritance tax.

For the record, I am in favor of any tax cuts any time for any reason. In fact I think we ought to go back right now, end ALL forms of tax...ALL and start over with a new list of what we need and how to pay for it. The current system sucks for the purpose of raising funds and only exists to conceal political agendas. The complexity of it works well to hide things. Such as the fact that for every tax "increase" on the "rich, the rich have successfully lobbied under the table for exclusions and exemptions for themselves so no one really pays the tax and the government proceeds to "fund" new projects with the money they will never earn. Hence the $1.80 increase for every $1.00 in new tax.

FAIR TAX would fix all that but the politicians would lose all their power.

We're talking about a 3 percent increase - not exactly a wallet buster.

Stay out of my wallet. If a 3% increase will not hurt US then a 3% decrease will not hurt them. I go for the decrease.

I will not. I will raid your wallet to finance my profligate, socialist, liberal tax-and-spend expand-the-government agenda.
