You can call the NVC at 1-603-334-0700 and listen to the automated voice response (AVR) and at some point enter in the USCIS case # and it will tell you if they have your case yet. If it says no, then I call back, hit number 1 then number 5 and talk to an operator, give them the case # and they tell me, no not yet, wait a few days and call back.

Technically, I think the petitioner has to call, but I've never gotten far enough for it to matter. If your case is there then you (or the petitioner) give the e-mail addresses and ask for the Invoice ID number and things start to happen quickly (or so I've read).

There are good wiki guides at the top about James' shortcuts and Ling Che's shortcuts through the NVC which are really helpful (if I knew how to add a link, I would) but it looks like you can fly through NVC in 30 - 60 days once you're case has been entered in the system.

Good luck.

NOA1 - Dec 13, 2010

Hi Rosy, I am in same boat as you are.I am planning to put congressional inquiry. I heard that involving congressman or senator in your case can end up giving you RFE or denial of petition....is that true...what is your opinion.....what is right step to take in this situation..

I would be patient and wait until 5 months pass before involving a congressman. You will get NOA2 befor you know it!

Received the NVC's "NOA1 for Petitioners" package in the mail yesterday, containing:

It was really easy to do, and it provided a barcoded, signed & dated document (the favorite thing of every bureaucrat).

Could be overkill, but whenever the additional weaponry is free, overkill is my preferred strategy.
