Fill out all the forms and get all the required documents together (marriage cert., birth cert., passport copy, police cert. and don't forget to send copies of everything). Take 4 "5 inch x 5 inch" photographs (you only need to send 2 and keep 2 for the interview) and put everything on a pile. Then send it to your hubby.

which forms do I need to fill out? Sorry.. this is all very confusing to me haha.

You need the I-864 and the Ds-230.

Yeah, I understand this is really a lot of stuff you need to sign and look at... But you should really look at this guide too, to catch all the specifics and requirements. There is also a very helpful guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut were I got all my information from! If you still have questions about anything don't hesitate to ask!

"The American Department of State is primarily responsible for the "back end" of the U.S. Immigration process as most immigrant visa and K-1 visa applications for loved ones abroad must be adjudicated by a United States Embassy or United States Consulate with appropriate Consular jurisdiction. Before a visa application can be adjudicated at a US Mission abroad it must first process through the United States National Visa Center. The reason that the NVC and the US Missions abroad are being mentioned in this article is due, in part, to the fact that were a government shutdown to occur processing of visa applications at NVC and US Missions abroad could effectively cease :o until such time as the controversy in the USA is resolved and the US government "reopens" for business. Therefore, those with pending visa matters before the United States immigration apparatus should be prepared for possible delays in the visa process should the United States government shutdown."

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (commonly referred to by the acronym USCIS) is the governmental body that generally begins the visa process as this agency is responsible for adjudicating petitions for immigration benefits. Luckily for some of those hoping to acquire immigration benefits it would appear that a government shutdown is not likely to adversely effect USCIS processing as USCIS primarily receives funding through the application and petition fees received in connection with requests for immigration benefits. Although, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) is not the US agency with exclusive jurisdiction over the whole of the United States visa process.

Yeah, the barcode issue... I try to avoid it with the DS 3032 (That's the one where you appoint your husband as your agent) and just email it. With the rest: The way I understood is you just print off the barcode information once you pay the bills...

I made a shorter guide for my husband walking him through and it's basically a shorter version of the other guides... I'll post it, maybe things become clearer this way... https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1xRPX-kxrBjeTrBlBU0YfyDjALa-7Q5ZHQbLHEs3Mb0gdKK_VNqae4kAcQXwJ&hl=de&authkey=CKfn6ukL

I don't know if this helps, but try...

One can use barcode generator for agent form

http://www.idautomation.com/java/linearservlet.html

Go to web site idautomation[1].

Type in the case number under "Data to encode."

Under "Barcode symbology," select CODE 39.

Select "No" for "Add check digit"

Select "No" for "Add check digit to text"

Select "YES" for "Show text below barcode."

Change the "X dimension" (bar width) to 0.05

Change the "Barcode bar height" to 0.5.

Click on "Create Barcode."

Print out the result from the resulting pop-up window, cut out the barcode and case number below it, and paste it in the horizontal box on the DS-3032.

I read it's $23,000 but I don't know how recent this is...

And you only need to send 2010 tax transcript, the previous years are only additional (2009/2008)

oh thats good then :D so he only needs to show that he's earned more than the poverty guideline for one year? I'm glad we don't need a co sponsor cause that would have confused me even more haha. Now.. is there anything I need to do differently for my 3 year old. He has a cr-1 pending too.. I already have a notarized letter from his biological dad already.. He doesn't see him so that was easy to get. Haha. I just wondered if he needs to be at the interview and if i need to fill in all the forms separately for him as well? sorry I have a zillion questions..

Actually, the December filers in this thread are close to receiving NOA2, which would indicate that USCIS involvement is over and the NOA2'ed case is now under the control of NVC. NVC will be slammed shut in the event of a government shutdown.

In addition, NVC will accumulate a backlog during the shutdown equal to the number of days the government was shut down. Thus, even cases which remain in USCIS during the shutdown will be delayed by that same amount of time while NVC processes its backlog of earlier cases.

Thus, regardless of where your application is in the system, everyone's application will be equally delayed by the government shutdown. The number of days our applications will be delayed will be equal to the number of days the government was shut down.
