SIF = Sign in Fail...you get that from the NVC payment portal. It's the 1st step before CC. You know if your Case is Complete by calling NVC AVRS

We are here too! Come on NVC! Do you guys know whether we need to actually talk to an operator or if the automated message will let us know if there is an RFE? They processed my file(s? not sure if its the aos or iv) on Nov. 26th, and I call everyday to listen to the message, but didn't know if I have to try to get through at a time that they are open. I have never seen a phone line that is so busy!

It's better to speak to human just to be sure you don't have a RFE. Keep re-dialing

Wow! I am overwhelmed by the number of new people who joined the thread! Welcome to everyone!

One thing that everyone who hasn't done yet..but easily could is to fill out a time line in your signature so that we know where everyone is in this process. If you aren't sure of how to post your signature in your time line, here are the steps:

1. Go to settings below your profile name at the top of the page.

2. Click on the profile tab.

3. Click on the change signature option on the left hand side of the page.

4. Then add your signature time line :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is another helpful tool (Indigo Skies made an NVC Tracker) that we can use to show our progres and give estimates on how long the NVC is taking current steps:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AicsmqR2qnHtdDFOUk9nVmxwQ3NEakRZc0x2TG03VEE&hl=en&authkey=CJLMhIAC#gid=0
Of course, there are plenty of helpful *guides found in VJ for the NVc stage. Such as:
1. LingChe (which is out of date for somethings): http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut
2. James' Shortcuts: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/James%27s_Shortcuts
3. Loto's (who recently changed his name to PatiencePaidOff) Guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/How_Do_I_Bring_My_Spouse_%28Husband_or_Wife%29_to_Live_in_the_United_States%3F
*Things change from time to time and like snowflakes, no two cases are the same. Some of the information in these guides won't fit your situation nor your country's specific guidelines (which can be found by clicking on the portals section of VJ and finding the information for your country).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Some other things to keep in mind:

1. The NVC phone number 1-603-334-0700. Don't be alarmed if the number is busy. Speed dial will become your best friend for getting through to this agency.

-They have a 24/7 AVR (Automated Voice Response) system which MAY or MAY NOT be accurate for your case. Some people who are already done with the NVC still have no record or a case number in the AVR system.

-They have operators available Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to Midnight Eastern time. The operators are very hit and miss as well. If you feel the information given to you by one operator isn't quite right, call and speak to someone else.

2. This stage takes significantly less time than USCIS but seems like it draggggggggggssssssss on forever because you know things should be moving right along and fears creep up and make you second guess everything. :S

3. Being proactive in this process will pay off. Which means if the AVR says "The NVC has sent a packet of information," don't wait for them to send you forms (because they may never arrive) but download them yourself and fill them out so that you can send them off as soon as your respective bills are paid.

4. The AVR is famous for saying "Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing," this is a bunch of baloney for the most part. Most things will be done way before then but they have to cover their behinds just in case.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok I will shut up for now. I hope something in the above rant will be useful to at least some one :)
Get to it NVC! Today is still a working day and plenty of people are waiting for EXCELLENT news today to have a better weekend! :dance: :dance:
