Yay!!! They finally invoiced me for the IV bill! Just submitted payment, and I have the packet ready to go as soon as it's marked "PAID" and I get the barcode sheet. Here's hopin' for smoooooooth sailing, no RFEs, and case complete before mid-January! (Is that a possibility?)

:) :) :)

Congrats on IV invoice..it's very possible as long as you send in all the required documents. Goodluck.

Awww, thank you for that glimmer of hope! I figure it's kind of a long shot, with the holidays coming up, but I'm going to keep hoping anyway!

Here's what I have ready to send with the IV packet:

  • Cover letter
  • 2 passport-style photos
  • Form DS-230 part 1 (signed)
  • Form DS-230 part 2 (unsigned)
  • Form DS-230 continuation sheet
  • Photocopy of bio page of applicant's passport
  • Certified copy of applicant's birth certificate (long form, legalized)
  • Translation of birth certificate
  • Certified copy of marriage certificate (legalized)
  • Translation of marriage certificate
  • Police certificate
  • Translation of police certificate
  • Photocopies of birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police certificate

Anything I'm missing? (neither of us are divorced, and military certificate is N/A for the Dominican Republic)

Thanks!

Tonm sorry to hear things are still stuck in neutral. How frustrating for you. Let's hope that even thought their reply is useless it does stimulate them to get moving on your case. Good luck!

Thanks OBX, I guess its a good news bad new sort of thing. Then bad news being the lack of progress I have had dealing with the Embassy personnel and now the Senators office. The good new is They can only delay this for so long and then I will be free to go on with my life but they will have to deal with it until they are fired or retire.

So as I have little else to do I am going to compose a letter and send it directly to the Senator apologizing for my lack of understanding oh what their jobs are and how my minor issue is trivial compared to all the important things they have to deal with. Please forgive me as I have never in my life ask for government help before and did not understand their as well as he does because he is a career politician who has work in the government most of his adult. I forgot that the Senate need to focus on getting things like budgets done and the fact that they have not accomplished this tells me that they are behind in much of their work. My little problem is of little significances considering all the other important things he has to deal with. I am surprised that he even has a staff set up to work on VISA issues although my issue in not important enough for them to do more than send an email inquiry. Its the Holidays and they must have many people to show their appreciation to more important than me. They also have their own lives and I understand that they too want to be with their families during this festive time of the year. I am truly sorry and ashamed for being so self centered. I was only thinking of myself when I ask for their assistant in my wife's Visa delay. I saw her just 9 1/2 short months ago a few more here or there will not matter that much. yada yada ... you get the idea. Hope they can say HO HO HO after they get it because I might put in on face book ha ha...

Ah, I interpreted "civil documents" as the birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police certificate. Didn't realize that the DS-230 counted as well! Thanks!

That's awesome--I'm so glad you guys told me! I've added photocopies of the DS-230 and continuation sheet to my packet.

Now, this "checklist cover letter"...does the cover letter that I made count for that? Or is it something I need to get from NVC/their website?

It's something you make on your own for now since you already know NVC will need it and you are sending it to them ahead of time. It's just an explanation as to why you are sending a copy to them.
