We sent of our documents via DX courier on Tuesday. I checked the status today and it says that our item is do for return. Then to call the company. Is this what the status will say while the Embassy processes our stuff? Or does this mean that there was an issue with our documentation? Thank you so much for all of your help. You people are wonderful!

We sent of our documents via DX courier on Tuesday. I checked the status today and it says that our item is do for return. Then to call the company. Although it may be something normal and I hope other people may be able to answer that (I don't know what it means, as I've been sending my documents via Royal Mail), I wonder if one of the following may be true in your case, if they're actually going to return your documents:

1)has whoever is the USC (you or your spouse) been living in the UK as their primary residence for at least 6 months to qualify for DCF?

2)does the USC hold a proper and valid residence visa for the UK? Lots of times they're picky and don't accept what they consider "temporary visas" such as a student visa, a tourist visa etc.

3)are you confident that all the forms and supporting documentation you submitted are the right ones and nothing is missing?

4)did you pay the updated filing fee? It was $355 up until November 23, and since then it's gone up to $420.

All the above are the most common reasons why a petition can get returned, if your documents are actually being returned to you. If it's one of the first two reasons, then they're returning it because they haven't accepted you for DCF in London, and they'll probably advise you to file in the US instead. If it's one of the last two, then there's something missing from the documents/forms or the payment isn't right, and they're returning it asking you to correct whatever is wrong and resubmit the whole thing.

I'd check with DX as to what this status means, and if it does mean that they're really returning your documents, then you will know why in a couple days' time.

Also important: what did the DX status say up until now? Did it show that your package was delivered to the Embassy at any point? Since they're a courier service, I thought it was a next day service, so it shouldn't have taken them 3 days to deliver them!! Of course, depending on where you live and due to the recent snow, that could explain the delay!
