Name Problems

My girlfriend is in the process of getting her green card and has hit a snag with her First and Middle names.

they are reversed on her passport even though other offical documents have it the way she goes by.

she has been asked to explain the issue and submit documentation and her app is on hold now

anyone run into this and maybe have some guidance

What is her legal name? The name on her birth certificate? Not the name she 'goes by'?

That is the name that should be on her documents

But yes, names on the documents have to match, otherwise - well, you could imagine the fraud that would ensue!

yea wht I got from your original post is, her first name and last name are switched on passport.

If thats correct then she should had paid attention to it long time back when she got her passport, Coz Adam Smith and Smith Adam is not same.

Harsh, I think he is saying the first and middle name is reversed. As in Mary Jane instead of Jane Mary. But I agree with you, it should have been noticed long ago
