Why do you think people at your work, and probably across the country are wearing flag pins more now than say 6 months ago?

Someones dog whistling out there.

i knew that. besides, steven would be jealous of any competition.

 he is still bitter about bill leaving him.

Did the men wearing pins who have beards just grow them or had them? I heard about a "no shave November" beard growing competition, but I am not sure it has anything to do with this.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

No, these particular gentlemen have always had facial hair.

BTW I said facial hair - never beard.

I don't wear a flag pin at work and I don't have a flag sticker on my car.

I don't display the flag on any holiday (not for political reasons but I'm probably lazy).

I may do that when I retire, but not do it to make any political point.

The thing is, I grew up in the 50's and my dad proudly flew the flag

on the appropriate holidays.

Then we had the Iran hostage crisis stand-off,

and the Daily News Building in NYC had 13 flagpoles

with US flags, one for each hostage.

The flag was usually associated with joyful patriotism, i.e.,

kids waving flags at Memorial Day parades. None of those

kids were angry, they were a sign of appreciation for service.

Then 9/11 happend and everything changed overnight.

Putting the flag on your car became a symbol of defiance

and anger. Motorist speeding? But officer, can't you see

I have the flag?

In Thailand, there are many more Thai flags displayed everywhere

all throughout the year and none of them are because anyone is

angry about anything.

You're right about the anger part. I guess those guys forgot how it was before.

No shave november? I've never heard of that. I have heard of Mustache March (fund raising event) and Mustache May (simply for afficionados I believe).
