Why? For a tenth of the cost you can send unmanned machines to do even more than a earth bound person could hope to do.. We are broke because of this needless wasteful spending and the idea is to go into even more debt to look at something up close and personal.

This would be big news IF microorganisms utilized arsenic.

Microorganisms quickly develop resistance to pretty much any poison they are exposed to. So they must have found a way to keep arsenic out. Neat, but Not A Major Discovery.

In Mono Lake there are micro-organisms that live with arsenic. But they don’t incorporate it into their biology.
