Wow!! So great to see all these approvals!! CONGRATS

General Question:

Do they ask for any original doc's other than the ones we sent in the 864 and 230 packets?

Specific to London Embassy:

Is there anyone here who has recently been interviewed at the London embassy and wouldn't mind posting tips?? I hear there's an extra fee once you get approved? Anyone know about this?

If you've paid the fees at the NVC you wont have to pay any more. the only other fee you will pay will be the courier fee for the passport and have the visa put in it. Thats around 20 pounds.

The originals will have been sent with your master file, from the NVC.

As for questions, it varies, how you met, what you do for a living, where you live, how long you've known each other. Its impossible predict what you will be asked. Each case is viewed on its own merits.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow with the interviews I will keep you in my prayers. GO JANUARY INTERVIEWS kicking.gif

Overall the experience at the consulate was good. The appointment was at 1 pm and was done by 3:30 pm. Everything went smoothly without any problems. The consulate asked my husband if he spoke English and he said a little bit. The next question he asked was when is the last time you spoke with your wife and he told him 4 hours ago. He then asked where will you live in the US and my husband said the city and state. The next question was what did you do for work in Greece and my husband told him. The last question he asked was if he has any pictures of the house in the US and my husband said yes in the photo albums. The embassy was not too busy and everyone was very nice.

I'm posting my wife's account of her embassy interview experience yesterday as related to me via chat, edited slightly (basically just formatted), so this is in her voice.

I went to the embassy at 6am but was not allowed to enter yet so I went to Chowking first to eat. Then I went back to the embassy afterwards and we were in at 7:10am. I submitted everything for x-ray inspection, and was told to sit down. It was already 8:20 when we were called to line in the ticket booth for our number, and then back to our seats. I met some new friends there. My number flashed at 9:40 for pre-screening. The screener was a very nice Filipina; she spoke to me in Tagalog. She asked, what my name is, who is my petitioner, is this my first marriage, and how many marriages you had before me. She was looking at all the papers you submitted to the embassy while asking me questions. She asked for my new birth certificate too. She asked how did we met and when, when was the first time we met in person, when did we marry. She listed down all the answers I gave her including the marriage termination dates. (She just looked up the date in the papers though, I knew the date but she didn’t bother to ask.) She asked who is Donna [my mother]. And then she asked if we have pictures together. I showed her the scrapbook first; she opened the first page and looked at it. She didn’t bother to look at any other pages or the other albums. She asked if I have copies of emails too, remittances and chats, I said yes to all, but she didn’t ask me to show it. Then she said, ok everything is ok, you can go back to your seat now and wait for your name to be called for finger scanning and then final interview.

Finger scanning was at 10:30, final interview at 11:40. The final interviewer was a young American woman. She was very nice too. She asked me which language I am comfortable to speak with her, I said either way so she used English. She asked me what’s my full name, date of birth, and who is my petitioner. She looked at my papers again and read what the Filipina lady listed down there. She asked me too our date of marriage, what’s your job, if u have kid from previous marriage and how many. She asked me too who you are living with. She asked me too if I’d been to the U.S. before or to another country.

And then she signed the papers and stamped it with “visa approved.” She thanked me for my patience.

Since I went with the wife to her interview here is the experience at the embassy in Manila, philippines.

Wasn't a long day for us pretty brief. Arrived at 0730AM on our interview day.

Was put with group to wait for entry into embassy based interview times. Finally

was let inside the embassy at 0800Am wife went to booth and they checked the

interview letter.

Be warned that a hard time is given in philippines for

not keeping up with interview letter that was stamped by ST. Lukes medical

center for medical exam. Guy in Front of wife was given a hard time for not

presenting the stamped interview letter from St. Lukes medical exam.

We

sat down for a long time waiting and finally got called to window 37 for the pre

interview. Had some laughs with the nice lady and she commented on our Wedding

and honeymoon pictures. Once done with the pre interview we were told to sit and

wait for name to be called for wifes biometric fingerprints scans.

After

fingerprint scan wife was told to sit and wait till our number is called for

final interview with consulate officer. Consulate officer was straight to the

point and ask just direct questions of us. After he was satisfied with our

answers he said looks like you guys are all set and have a great day. he also

said wait for name to be called to get to explained on visa delivery process.

After hearing that we both knew that wife was approved and good to go

and she will be leaving her home for a long time and accompany her hubby to her

new home and country.

Questions asked by consulate:

Where did you

meet?

When did you meet face to face?

When did you get married?

The

petitioners occupation?

Did beneficiary ever travel outside of

country?

Why was wife late registered on birth certificate?

Other than

that nothing hard just questions straight from paperwork submitted. Just be

Just got the email

I arrived at the embassy, there were lots of people waiting for the embassy to open. Finally, the guard called for earlier appointments like 6:30 and 7:45 mine was at 8:30 am, I waited then at 7:00 those with 8:30 appointments were called to fall in line. We passed through a security check, as usual no food and electronic devices allowed. When I got inside the embassy I was told to sit at the back and wait for the guard to assist. I waited then at 7:30, the guard directed the applicants to go to a booth to submit the appointment letter, then I got number 6155 , maybe a lucky number he he he. I went back to my seat and waited for my number to flash on the screen for my turn for the pre-interview. At 9:15 my number flashed on the screen and I was assigned at window 14. A young pregnant Filipina was my interviewee. She was just ok, not soft not hard if you call it that way ha ha ha. These were the pre-interview questions she asked me:

What is your name?

Do you still live in this address?

Is this number (phone) still exist?

Where does your husband live?

Is this your first marriage?

What about your husband?

Do you have kids?

What about him?

Why it took you long to get married?

Do you have pictures with him? (I showed her the wedding pictures with captions I made, then she asked for more pictures , I was about to get two more folders from the black bag when she said ok no need), then she told me to go back to the waiting area.)

I waited then at 9:45 I had my finger scanning with an American personnel at window 16, he asked for my name and I was told to have my fingers scanned. I went back to my seat and waited for my name to flash for the final interview. I was already tense and nervous since those who were done said the one who interviewed them was strict, so I was more tensed. I waited and waited and at 11:05 my number flashed on screen and I was assigned in cubicle number 30 . My heart was beating so fast like drums in a parade and just like that of a racing car. I waited outside the cubicle since the ones interviewed ahead of me was not yet done. After 10 minutes, the applicant went out and I got in the cubicle. The consul was a sweet woman in her mid 30's I guess, A combination of a Chinese and an American,(like the character SUN in the tv series LOST).She was so sweet and kind honey,I love her so much, she is not one that scares applicants. I greeted her and she smiled at me. These were the questions in my final interview:

Your name

Address

Petitioner

address of petitioner

is this your first marriage?

How about him?

do you have kids?

how about him?

how many kids does he have? ages?

what is his work?

where does he live?

date of divorce

when did u get married?

do you have pictures? ( I showed her again the wedding pictures, I tried to slipped it into a small glass hole , but she asked me to open it instead for her for she doesn't want to bend the pictures. I slowly, opened every page of the folder and she always reply GREAT!)

how many times did your husband came here in the Philippines?

where did you meet?

Then she said we"re done except that your NBI clearance that I got is in your maiden name, then I told her I got an NBI clearance in married name. I handed her the NBI clearance, she returned to me the personal copy and she said MA'AM YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED, I smiled at her and I said thank you . I waited again at the waiting area, and at 11:45 my name was called to proceed to window 16. The Filipino personnel gave me back my appointment letter stamped BIO F/P DONE Jan 6,2010 IMMIGRANT VISA AND A FORM TO BE FILLED UP FOR 2go TO SEND MY PASSPORT . i WAS DONE AT 11:50. I also got to know of two girls who were also at SMLC and we met here at the interview , all of us were approved so the one suggested we eat together at Chowking in front of the embassy, we were done eating at 1:00 and said our goodbyes, and we gave each other phone numbers both of them will also be in California.

It is a good thing we brought extra original documents. The NBI in her married name got lost somewhere.
