Hello Lovenjstar,

I am sorry about your long wait for the interview. I can not answer your question about why mine was faster. I passed my papers originally Dec 13 and they returned the packet DEc 22 because of one page missing.

I sent it back the next day. The returned packet has a page that stated that they will prioritized my case. I am not sure if it did help. I am sure calling the governor will help your case.

03/25/2011 I received the Passport, FINALLY US Citizen, thanks god :-)

Could be good advice, my wife and I are getting antsy. She's planning to go to Kyiv the last week of June for a 3-1/2 week vacation. Part of her trip includes stop-overs in Rome, Vienna, and Budapest. Getting a "Uniform Schengen Visa" is a PITA, we need to bring a pile of documents to a member nation's satellite consulate office. This includes non-refundable RT tickets, letter of invitation, health insurance while traveling, proof of U.S. job and assets, so on.

With a U.S. passport, all she needs is to get a stamp on entry to her initial host country. Sigh...

OTOH: She's in class at the local CC with another Russian lady. This woman JUST got her oath appointment letter for about May 10th yesterday. Her Interview was March 3rd, ten days before my wife's interview. Maybe we should just be a little more patient.

Maybe the oath ceremonies in LA are on hold, the website below used to be regularly updated about upcoming oath ceremonies in LA county, but they show nothing past March 24, 2011.

I did mail a letter to my congressman last week, yes. I am hoping he can help me with something. I am not in the US at the moment, I'll fly wherever for the Oath. LOL.

Can someone please update me, passed my interview today :) AND walked out with (after being there from 8.45 until 2.40) with my oath letter for 9am on the 29th of April, was a very very long day but worth it, the IO was a very nice lady I had waited almost 3 hours before the interview then had to wait a few more until her supervisor looked at and approved the paperwork on the speeding ticket I had recieved (only one in my whole life) that had been moved down to a parking ticket, then had to wait some more for the oath letter, but all in all it was TOTALLY worth it.

Here is my interview experience that was not so good

My interview was scheduled for April 6th at 2:00 PM and I reached there at around 1:30 PM. After a 30 minute wait my name was called by this hispanic IO and i went inside with him. he took me to his office and asked me to raise my hand and swear that I'll be telling the truth and I said "I do". As soon as he asked me sit sit down, he asked for my social security card, my passport and my driver's license. I tolf him that I forgot to bring my SS Card but I have all other documents. He just took other documents and immediately asked me if my wife accompanied me for the interview and I replied "No". He said that as my citizenship is based on marriage to a US citizen, she has to be present before he can approve. I politely told him that none of the interview letters or any USCIS documents I received indicated that I was supposed to bring my spouse for the interview but I told him that I can call my wife and she can be in his office in 15 minutes. He said that he will schedule an interview with her at a later date.

I brought along all my original documents that I submitted with the N400 application but he did not care for them. He just took photocopies of my Passport, my wife's passport, my drivers permit and my green card. He went over the whole application and asked me answers of all the questions like if I was ever arrested, if i was a member of a communist party (all those 50 some questions) and then he asked my profession and I told him that I was a business consultant. As I work on brief projects with Fortune 500 clients, I have moved a lot within US since I started working here. He asked me why I moved so much and I said that I work as a contractor and I move as I get new projects. He then asked me read and write " Who was the first president of United States". I read and wrote the answer correctly. He then asked me 6 questions for which I didn't even take a breath to respond then correctly.

He asked me what my wife did professionally and I replied that she is a full time student. He asked my how old my sone was and I said he was 3 about to turn 4. He then asked me if I was interview in person along with my spouse for my green card and I replied "yes". he then asked me if my wife can can be available for the interview on April 8th at 8:30 AM and I said that she has her classes and if he could schedule for 2:00 PM which he did. He asked me to bring my SS card and documents that supported our marriage.

As I work downtown St Louis, I asked my wife to show up at the USCIS office at 1:30 PM and I'll meet her there. April 8th 1:30 PM our family (including my son) was there in the office waiting for this IO. He peeped out of the door and saw us sitting outside at around 1:45 and then came out at 2:05 and called just my wife's name. He said that he has to interview only here for now and took my wife inside. I was waited along with my son outside for like 20 minutes and then he came out and called us too. He asked me to raise my hand and swear which I did. He asked me when I moved to St Louis and I told him the date. That was the only question he asked and then he said that I was approved and I would receive an oath letter in the next 30 days. I asked him if he needed my SS card and the documents as a proof of our continuing marriage and he said he just wants the tax transcripts which I gave him. He did not give me any document of approval and we finally came out.

I asked my wife what all questions he asked and she said that he probably asked everything about me and some questions where my wife felt harassed.Here are some of the questions that I remember now

1) Do you feel he has married you for a US citizenship?

2) How did you meet him?

3) If anytime you feel that he has married you for a US citizenship, call me.

4) Why is your drivers license not yet transferred to this state? (because we move for projects and this is our temporary residence)

5) Is this boy his or from someone else?

He asked a lot more questions which my wife does not remember but she felt offended. I was really disgusted with this experience and just couldn't do or say anything because I know if I gave him any opportunity to deny my application, he would have.

I will wait for the oath letter and ceremony and then I'm planning to file a complaint against this officer. I have a very clean record and I am a good person with strong character. To me it feels like I have been racially profiled (I'm Asian Indian muslim) and in a way not so much excited to be an American anymore.
