I hate excessive government spending but NASA is one agency that should have its budget tripled. To kill the Orion project is just short sighted.

It's not waste. It's the nature of scientific inquiry. You could have a few hundred scientists toil away for their entire lifetimes and gain one new bit of scientific knowledge a decade. That doesn't make the rest of it waste. You're falling right in to a classic RWN talking point.

I know you think you're being funny but why not? It's a good idea. Open the frontier up to private businesses and let the resources roll in. There's no reason colonialism has to end just because the people of Egypt and India and America got smart about it. There's a whole world out there!

Sorry, poor verbiage. What I meant was that quite often, the discoveries derived from NASA and other groups don't realize their practical applications for years if not decades. This is what the RWN point to as waste. I shouldn't have used their terminology.
