Expensive, for unpotty trained children like yours its even more expensive. I'd average it at about 450 to 600 a month, depends on the center.

That is quite expensive, I was thinking of a maximum of $400, so that I could work. Well by the way she is partly potty trained, she pops only in her potty but still pees in her diaper. I would only train her to pee too in the potty when she is able to walk so she walks to the potty herself. What is Au pair?

Unless one has a good paying job, its not worth working in some places

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Here in Illinois for an infant it costs about $175 per week. When you get up to 2 years old and potty trained it's about $140 per week. Before and after school care for school aged children (even at the school's own program) can cost anywhere from $50 to $75 per week.

Suggestions: our school has a pre-k program. It's free.. the only stipulation is that the child is 3 years old and potty trained. The kids at that point go 1/2 day. The year before kindergarten they can go all day (school hours), and then kindergarten is all day. We did that with my youngest son when I went back to work. We've also already hired a private babysitter for the new baby when he/she is born. It's a daughter of a friend of mine (she is 20) and has been watching my older kids after school for 2 years. She also watches my friends kids, which include a baby, so I know she can handle it. The cost: $35 for after school for my kids. And once the baby is born she will make around $130 per week from me. It's in MY house and I know that my baby is well taken care of. If you can find someone like that it's a good alternative.

Another suggestion is looking into jobs that will help with daycare costs. There are some out there if you look around. I worked for Americorps for 2 years (basically I was a volunteer with a stipend paid to me each month... around $900 per month with a scholarship of $5000 per year to use for schooling). They offered daycare assistance.. meaning that they paid for most of the daycare costs if you chose to use the college that we were affiliated with's daycare. What I did for AmeriCorps was I was a reading coach for 2nd graders. You don't need a lot of experience.. you get training from them. www.americorps.org is the website.

Another big suggestion is to work at a daycare. I did that and got free daycare for my kids.

There's options... just look around. Good luck!

A foreign nanny. Usually a young girl.

Working as an au pair in America is one of the best ways to discover the USA. Experience everyday life with a carefully selected American family and earn weekly pocket money by providing childcare as a nanny or babysitter. Whether you’re looking for a year out or just want to work legally abroad, the exchange programs on this site give you plenty of free time to explore, study, travel and make new friends - plus you get 100% support throughout your stay. America is a friendly, welcoming country with so much to enjoy and this is the way to make the most of it!
