My husband (LPR) filed I-130 for me and our 2yr old daughter and was received jan 28, 2011. We were notified thru text and email. It says, we have to wait 7-10 days for the official receipt. What's next? Im not knowledgable bout these matters,,, pls help me... Thanks in advance and gud luck to all of us!

Wanted to pass on and update this with some information

Visa Bulletin Predictions – Family-Based

In Sept. 2010 American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) discussion session here in Washington, DC with Charles Oppenheim. Mr. Oppenheim is the Chief of the Visa Control and Reporting Division at the U.S. Department of State. For many, he is simply known as the person responsible for the monthly and annual visa number allocations for family- and employment-based green cards. He is also the person who prepares and publishes the monthly visa bulletin which is highly anticipated every month.

Mr. Oppenheim was also able to provide some predictions and expectations for movement of the family-based visa numbers over the next few months. Unlike the employment-based visa numbers, which are expected to advance very slowly over the next few months, the family-based visa numbers, especially in the 2A category are expected to continue to advance consistently and relatively quickly.

FB 2A. According to Mr. Oppenheim, this family-based category has shown a very low demand over the past months; accordingly, Mr. Oppenheim expects that the 2A category (spouses and children of permanent residents) will continue to move forward aggressively and by the February 2011 visa bulletin, this category may be current or close to being current.

FB 2B. Similarly, movement in the 2B category has been faster than anticipated due to low demand; accordingly faster forward movement in this category is also expected.

Hello there! My husband also received the text and email confirmation on Jan 28, 2011. Does it mean, i received my NOA1 already, and need to update my timeline? Is jan. 28, 2011 is my PD also? And from the confirmation, official receipt number is there, so I was able to view my status online.

2011-01-25: I-130 was sent to Chicago lockbox

2011-01-28: Received text and email confirmation (is this NOA1 already?)

it's likely your priority date is jan 28, 2011 yes that is your priority date which will also be printed on the letter you will receive soon.

My priority date was dec. 30, 2010 BUT i receive the email/text confirmation on January 3, 2010

O dear thanks! How bout your posting just a while ago, the QUOTE, what does it implies to F2A? Is there anyone here who filed I-130 under F2a who successfully reunited in less a year? Im really optimistic in looking forward to get reunited with my husband.

yes it was for F2A category. There were cases that got completed in 1 year.

Tier 1 - Customer Service Representatives or CRSs

Tier 1 CSRs answer basic questions with information available on the USCIS website and issue service requests to the field for case specific problems raised by customers. The contractor staffs three Tier 1 locations: Williamsburg, Kentucky; Fort Worth, Texas; and the newest site, Chantilly, Virginia.

Tier 2 - Immigration Service Officers or ISOs

If the customer’s problem cannot be resolved at Tier 1, a CSR may transfer the call to a Tier 2 location in New York or California. Tier 2 ISOs answer calls that often are complex and require extensive knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and policies. They are asked to provide information to the public on all immigration benefits and processes. However

They still have some challenges -

(1) specific customer inquiries about time-sensitive Requests for Evidence (RFEs) cannot be answered because ISOs do not have visibility to all USCIS systems

(2) ISOs do not have visibility into files located in field offices, a shortcoming that requires them to refer questions to the field offices through SRMT requests or email

(3) ISOs are not systematically provided with information about specific field office practice

I didn't find a thread for November 2010 filers and hence I will post here even though I filed for my wife and son in Nov 2010.

I sent the petition in Nov 17 (I think) and received NOA-1 on Nov 22. Since then, I haven't heard anything. I am waiting for NOA-2.
