Many are waiting for new blood to surface in the gop bull pen of presidential candidates......we'll see.

New blood is good. Last thing you guys need is another Dole or McCain candidacy. GWB was 'new blood' and that worked out well for you.

Being over one's head is not the same as "unintelligible"

Thank you to Kathryn41 for noting the lack os substance in some posts. It is OK for Democrats to attack women. It is OK for Democras to attack irrelevent women.

For my part I am actually happy and will no longer comment on the Dems spending time and energy on irrelevent things.

Nice try Corky, read what you posted again and tell me that is a coherent sentence, and keep a straight face whilst doing it.

"intellectually qualified"?

Yeah I guess being intellectual can come in handy but trust me, after 4 yrs of Obama and his band of intellectuals.... that will not be high on Americas "Must have" list when looking for the next Pres.

I'd bet on it.

I never understood how the republicans suceeded a decade ago in demonizing anyone considered an intellectual, or elite in their field. I understand the appeal of the "every man", but not at the expense of intelligence. Thank you Mr. Turdblossom.

There are plenty of republicans out there who would be good candidates. Most however either don't seem to be interested or don't have a high enough profile to muster any attention. If the republicans can get a fiscal conservative and social moderate to run in 2012, it will be a landslide victory. I think there are a lot of indepedants and even democrats who would vote republican, if the candidate wasn't a hardcore social conservative.

Can you suggest a few names?

I thought it was generally understood, a "Blue blood" cancels out the "new blood" status.

Can you suggest a few names?

Sure can. I know you'll undoubtedly shoot them all down as RINO.

Mitch Daniels

Paul Ryan

Steve Forbes

Jon Huntsman

I think all 3 would pass muster regarding fiscal conservatism, but I know all three would undoubtedly fail in the eyes of social conservatives.

Steve Forbes is a weirdo.

He is. The perpetual look of surprise on his face is comical. But he does have some good ideas, especially regarding personal income taxes. But like most libertarian leaning republicans, he has his batsh!t crazy ideas too. If he is in the primary, he will at least force the entire field to address fiscally conservative principles. He's the republican version of Kucinich , without the UFO sightings though.

The Republican primary will be fun to watch. Ideally, I'd love to see them nominate someone who isn't a total RWN on social issues. Chris Christie, for example.

Romney is the only credible GOP candidate.

Yes, and he even championed an early version of Obamacare in Massachusetts. I'd have no problem with him as President, so you know the Tea Party probably will  Can anyone get the GOP nomination with Tea Party support? In my opinion, not unless the non-TP part of the GOP throws its collective weight behind a single candidate early on.

Christie kind of scares me. He was much more of a moderate when he first took office. His positions have slid, and I am unable to discern whether he is a populist simply trying to appeal to more people, or if he is trying to appeal to the tea party crowd.

I'm not a Romney fan. Despite his business acumen, he doesn't seem to have much of a clue in politics. His 08 campaign was only surpassed by Giuliani's campaign in stupid mistakes and gaffes. His debates were an exercise in futility. He looked as bad as Sarah Palin in his debates. Remember that whole issue where he was trying to kiss the NRA's as$ and he said he was a hunter his whole life? Seriously, did he not think people would look into that? This isn't 1910 when you could just make stuff up and it wouldn't get back to you until after the election. Romney must think that if he combs his hair like Reagan, and dresses like him that people will think he is Reagan.

I wanted to like Romney. He was a popular governor in a liberal state, a social moderate, and had the business credentials to boast. But then, he opened his mouth.
