I am 13 years older than my husband and we plan to have a child when he gets here. We have a wonderful relationship based on love and respect and in many ways, he is more mature and more thoughtful than I am. We were denied our K1 visa back in March 2010 for other reasons so we went and got married and re-filed for a CR-1. But he did go through 8 months of AP before the K1 visa was denied and I think a lot of it had to do with the age difference, race difference, religious difference and cultural difference.

excuse my ignorance but what does ap mean?

In this case it means administrative processing, kind of a mini purgatory where they don't say yes or no and don't give you a date for the torture to end.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Do you really think they denied you for those reasons? I am surprised. Those sound like the differences that many people have when applying for a K1. I'm 12 years older than my fiancee. We have all the other differences too. Did they say why you were denied? There must have been a reason other than the ones you mentioned. I'm sorry it took so long just to be rejected. I hope you have better luck this next time.

The age this is pretty normal for the Philippines with the men being older, but in the case you quoted the woman was American and older than her Nigerian fiance, which isn't the norm for their culture so that's why she'd have had more issues.

I am 9 years older than my husband and my husband says it wasn't really addresses.****A little off topic***My husbands family (parents and siblings) all signed a quick 1 paragraph letter that said they met me, supported our marriage and that they were aware of the age difference. My mom signed one on behalf of my family.

We had to have a 2nd interview. Trust me, blacking out certain text in emails will get you everytime!!! I have a child so for this interview I asked him to write a letter. He wrote a lovely 2 paragraph letter about his LD friendship/relationship with his soon to be dad and the things they were going to do when he came. My husband said the interviewer thought it was sweet.

Looking forward to a Happy New Year!!!

' I'm older then my ex-husband. I just wanted to say that maybe you should really look at the age difference between you and him and ask yourself if you and him would hook up in the states if you had met him here. With my experience, I think that's the question u should be wondering about.

Yep! I sure would! Never would have thought he was younger than me! Just so happen he was. As a matter of fact everyone thinks he is the older one robbing the cradle. Dad ask him was I I8! hAhA!
