So still no outrage that just the act of buying a ticket means that one loses their rights...........in America? It is now OK to take nude pics of anyone that TSA employees want to see nude and to grope kids all in the name of LOSING the rights in this country by the simple act of buying a ticket to fly. Just think now what they will come up with to intrude into our lives further since they have now cowered us into accepting this outrage.

See, that reasoning is jacked up as well. We should search everyone walking out of a grocery store because there have been ample examples of people shoplifting/attempting to shoplift.

Every student should be patted down daily who walks into a high school/college because we've had ample examples of school shootings/attempted murder on campus....

'Reasonable' as I stated before can be easily skewed. Rational thought gets skewed by the idea of something bad happening. Then it becomes irrational at that point, which would attribute the searches to being unreasonable at that point.

Then of course there's the argument that all of these changes recently are extremely unreasonable because American Citizens haven't been the ones planning the attacks that have happened over the course of the past year. The underwear bomber boarded a plane in Amsterdam, not the US. The cargo packages were put on "US Bound" planes, but not on planes that originate here... So how is it reasonable to search US Citizens for incidents that are happening abroad?

The thing that you are neglecting here is "proportional response". Shoplifting is quite prevalent in supermarkets, and as such, the markets take appropriate anti-theft measures. The same thing applies to school safety. In a school where gangs and such are more pervassive, you will see metal detectors and amplified police presence on campus.

I do feel that this is a case of closing the barn door after the horses already got out. The machines and the pat-down searches are ineffective. These measures do nothing but give a false sense of security to the uninitiated. The measures are useless according to experts.

A leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install "useless" imaging machines at airports across the country.

"I don't know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada.

I guess it takes a lot for me to get outraged. The TSA measures are horrible, but it's not like Darfur, or something that really is tragic and beyond reproach.

Have you seen how much money is being thrown at this? Its ridiculous. I could have had a platinum plated 1978 Coupe DeVille with the hope diamond as a hood ornament for what they've spent on it. I actually am a fiscal conservative, but liberal on social issues. So you can see why I got confused and joined the Libertarian party for a while.
