Sorry for asking this here but my husband is traveling and I do not know where to ask this. I returned home this afternoon and someone left a card on my door. It says something like this: It is necessary that I speak with you regarding an individual who is being considered for a position of trust with the U.S. Government. Your comments regarding this individual's fitness and suitability will be greatly appreciated. Wonder if it's legitimate? Should I open the door if he returns tomorrow. What could this be? P.S. It also says regarding your neighbors job. It does not have my name on it just my address resident. Please help. I am so panicky. :crying:

Its probably someone of your neighbors who is getting a background investigation for a postion. Did they leave a business card or just a card that says what you typed? If they return and they are with the government they should be working for DIA and have appropriate credentials, usually in a black wallet with two sides, one containing a picture ID, I forget what the other one is, but the wallet has two plastic windows for you to inspect the ID.

They basically want to know if you know of any negative information on this person and if you have any concerns about them having access to information that could be of national security concern.

Like someone else said the interview is voluntary, if they left a business card you can call them. You can meet at public place like starbucks if you are not comfortable meeting in your home.

If you think this person is not legitimate call local cops.
