When entering on the fiance visa, are you required to fill out the ESTA (or the landing card)?

Visa is in hand, and we've booked our flights back to the US (I leave this week, he follows a few days later). We got a message from British Airways asking for us to fill in additional passenger info, and there's also a section that says:

"A US Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) is required for all non-US passport holders travelling on the Visa Waiver Programme. If you have not already done so, please complete ESTA details for all passengers."

My question is, since he's entering with a K1 visa, not on the Visa Waiver Program, does he need to fill this out before his flight? What about the landing card they hand out in-flight?

You do not need to fill out the ESTA as he is entering using a visa. I entered the visa information and passport information on the Lufthansa website for my fiancee as she will finally be coming to the USA on the 19th of December. He will need to fill out the I-94 form as that is one of those required documents for the next step in our journey.

Congratulations on getting thru the first part of this journey.

You'll fill out a customs declaration on the plane. It's white with a blue border on top. Some airlines have gone electronic on ESTA now and no I-94Ws (geen form) are passed out on the plane. Continental changed over last summer. My husband's daughter said they didn't pass out any cards, but maybe they have I-94s (white card) if you ask. The check-in desk also had a pile last time we flew. And if that fails, the immigration people would have I-94s at POE. Be sure to get an I-94.
