Hi VJ,

Today my fiance went for his medicals. We decided to go with Holy Trinity instead of Akai House. Nothing against Akai House. LOL! Holy Trinity was closer to his home and a lil cheaper. He paid 370 at Holy Trinity. Akai House charge 380. For those not aware, Holy Trinity does everything. He had his complete medicals done at Holy Trinity and said everthing went smoothly. He did not have to go to Medlab for blood test, which was the process for many a couple years ago. For the medicals he had to take his interview letter, medical form, which you get with your package, passport, 370 Fee, and 4 passport pictures. Please note: In your packages 3/4 you are told to bring 3 passport pictures. When he went to the center to inquire they told him to bring 4 for 4 different forms needed for medical exam. He had the following done:

1.Complete Physical-Took Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, etc

2. Completed 3 vaccinations. Did not have to do the chicken pox vaccination b/c he had the chicken pox as a kid. He has to return for 2 or 3 more in 1 month. Then 1 more later in the future, which he can do in the states.

3. Seroloigcal test for HIV, Syphillis etc

4. Chest Xray and

5. Stool Test

I believe this is all. Going off of memory :-) Hope this help any others.

Wow!

Thus information is very helpful to me.I'm thinking of going to Akai house bcos that was where I did last year. I called them and I was told the whole tests and vaccinations will cost me 380cedis,also I will have to go to Medlab for the chest xray which I was thinking will be hectic for me. I'm so happy u gave this info,I'm going with Holy trinity straight up. Also I get to save 10cedis for taxi and trotro fares.I'm so glad.

Thanks bunches Ghanaluv!

Just a side note on that--I believe HIV tests are no longer required for immigration, so if you want your fiance/fiancee to have one, don't assume that they got one in their medical exam. They are required for marriage in Ghana, but not in many parts of the US.

This may be a non issue for many people by this point, but if not, it's very simple to get tested at numerous clinics in Ghana, just for your own benefit.

After filling out a police report, he arrives at the embassy a little late, and they allow him in to speak to the CO, even though he has no valid ID. Thank God! Thanks for the update. You are absolutely correct. I was not aware of this, but they still list it on their forms. As of Jan 2010 a new law went into effect in regards to the HIV test. http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/hiv-guidance-panel-civil.html

I totally disagree with this, but it is what it is. However, no matter what they require we will be tested for HIV and all STDS.I think it the smart thing to do. Glad you mention this.

Jen and babs!

Does this mean one can ignore the HIV test and do the rest of the exams?

When you take your forms to the clinic they are aware of what is needed. Check the link above: They have a note to the panel doctors/surgeions that HIV test is no longer required.

I just called Holy trinity clinic and they told me the whole tests will cost me 380cedis and I need to do the HIV tests. I told him that its not included but he insisted that its required.I'm confused!

Well, If they do I am HAPPY about it!!!! However, based on the info in the link it is longer required. I would not worry about it if I was you. At least you will know Call tommorrow to see what they tell you.
