Do I need to take some money with me when travelling on a CR-1 visa?

Do I need to take some cash with me when traveling to the US or its not required at the port.if its required, what is the maximum I can take along? Thanks in advance!

Just be sure you have enough to pay any exit fees at the airport you'll be flying out of. Having a few dollars for snacks, etc. during layovers and for possible emergencies is always a wise precaution also. BTW, if I remember right you can carry up to $10K without having to declare it with customs. Any amount you want is legal, just be prepared to answer for why you're traveling with that much cash.

That said, a few hundred dollars for the situations I outlined above should be more then adequate.

12/21/10: Interview/Personal appearance at Manila Embassy for CRBA **approved**

01/03/11: CRBA and US Passport for daughter received by Gina via FEDEX

you do not need to take any money but you CAN... I took 700 dollars along with me as I cleared out my small bank account. :)

My fiancee arrived in the U.S. with a pocket full of lint a few weeks ago. It was a direct flight from Accra to my city, so we didn't anticipate the need for any dollars. There was no problem.
