Here: http://www.sss.gov/ register online right now.

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to Moving Here and Your New Life In America as this isn't an AOS question or a qn about the immigration process, but a "life in USA" qn**

Until you've gotten your green card, you are a not an immigrant (since you entered on a K1 visa, which is considered to be a nonimmigrant visa). Non-immigrants do not need to register with selective services (source).

Once your AOS is approved and your green card has arrived, you're a permanent legal resident and obligated to register within 30 days.

I thought you didn't have to register until you become a resident, i.e. get the green card. Where does it say you have to register within 30 days? It's been over 60 days since my fiance/husband arrived. Eeep!

Apparently two threads going on this. I replied to the other getting worried. I didn't think 30 days after entry on a K-1 made sense.

Well there is a sheet that I had to sign at the embassy and it is a notice of that I am supposed to register! it says at the moment of you entry in the United States you must register in the selective service system of the United States, within the first 30 days of you arrival. if you qualify for this system, you must do it as soon as possible.

etc etc... it is in Spanish and the embassy gave it to me! :S

Im a bit confused now, it scares me a bit cuz it says people who dont do this can be sent in jail and pay over $250.000 lol.. ..

I think the key is "if you qualify". You (and my husband) don't qualify yet, since you're not yet legal permanent residents. (Thanks K and L). You won't be a resident until you get your green card. So I think you and my husband are OK for now.
