Changing name for removal of conditions after divorce. Need advice for work.

Hello all,

I need advice on how to proceed with my legal name use after my divorce.

I am the alien resident and my conditional green card expires end of January 2011. My US husband and I recently divorced and I just filled for a waiver to the I-751 form.

I know there is no guarantee that my conditions will be removed as I am not married anymore, even though the marriage was entered in good faith and I've got millions of evidences.

During the divorce, I asked for the restoration of my maiden name and it was granted.

So now, my conditional green card that does not expires until end of January is under my married name. I am currently employed under my married name as well.

I am supposed to switch all my official papers back to my maiden name. I am not sure what the deadline is though.

I filled for the I-751 under my maiden name.

Can anyone advise me what to do with my current job? Should I tell them to change my name on all papers (for taxes, insurance, etc) since my maiden name is my official name since my divorce was pronounced a couple of weeks ago? Or should I not do anything until I know for sure that my green card is going to be renewed under my maiden name, and then do all changes at work and on my ID papers?

Thanks!

I really appreciate some help on this one...

Normally, your employer will not change your name until it is changed on your Social Security card. Have you done that yet? (By taking your divorce decree to your local SSA office?)

Hello,

No I did not. My SS card is still under my married name.

Do you know if it is a big deal to update all that after removing my conditions, assuming it will be granted?

The SSA has nothing to do with USCIS - so the two processes are not related at all. If you have legal proof of your name change (which you do in the final divorce decree) - take that with you to your local SSA office to get your card changed.
