Does this mean she's convinced you that the feelings you have for her are mutual yet?

Hello B&A,

I went to visit her just to get to know each a bit more in person. I believe it was the right thing to do.

I got to know her better in person and the time we spent I can not describe the feeling. It was great. Like always her attention and respect top notch. I know many say that things change after they arrive in USA but I am willing to take a change with this one. (L)

I know many say that things change after they arrive in USA but I am willing to take a chance with this one.

jr,

They all change once they get here, it's just part of the process. The thing to be concerned about isn't that they change but why they change.

Some will change simply to adapt (or cope-up as they say) to life in a different world.

Some will change as a reaction to being away from everyone they know for the first time in their life.

Some will change as they grow into their new role as wife, mother, step-mother.

The thing to worry about is those who change because they've got to the finish line of their journey [with you] once that Green Card is in hand.

The process of her adapting to life here will be difficult on her and if you're relationship isn't strong that stress alone can fracture or even tear apart what you've worked towards. Sometimes it has nothing to do with scamming and is simply a matter of the stress being stronger than the relationship.

I couldn't love Anna any more than I do but to be honest the last year (Nov 25th was her 1 year anniversary of landing in the US) has been one of the most trying times of our lives.

Don't overlook the fact that we have to adjust also. I was living as a single parent for 10 years prior to her arrival. In some ways she had to push me out of the way because I was so used to how things have been since forever.

Honestly, if I knew how difficult that first year was I would still do it all over again just to have her at my side.

awww i'm blushing :) sweet. thanks hun. :)

When I came to the US I had no idea it was so difficult to adjust, the weather, the lifestyle is all different. But hey after a year, we are still here, hanging on. There have been a lot of times when me and Bob would be arguing because I feel so down and depressed, but after a few months i was able to adjust, Gabby's adjustment was pretty easy. Now, gabby(our little boy) prefers daddy than mommy, daddy could calm gabby without a problem.

happier than ever

Hello,

I am wondering if mine will have less adjustment to do than the average. Why do I say this? well, she has been working aboard, in Dubai, for about four years.

She already tasted what is like to miss her family and friends.

She keeps telling me that maybe her adjustment might be a bit easier than those who leave their family for the first time.

Oh well, I just saw a lot of progress between us and I am loving it.

Sure, if you can go over Christmas...

I'm a big proponent of maximizing the amount of time together. Not sure how many days you spent over Thanksgiving, but it is much more difficult to put on a performance for a sustained period of time. I lived for over two months with my wife's family before we filed the I-129F. During that period I discovered her medical issue with migraines. I had no idea they could be so incredibly debilitating. But I walked in with my eyes open. It's been the only real traumatic thing, but we've figured out how to deal with it.

It was kind of interesting in her home city. She would see friends from high school in the store. They would ask in amazement if I was hers. Then they'd do high-fives. Geez. She still makes me feel like that three years later.

I think that a consequence of English being his second language.

There wasn't much really to go on here except "attention and respect top notch", which I infer to mean that previously the attention and respect were lacking.

The main issue before was manipulative behavior, which is why a short visit is hard to go on. There are a number of threads on VisaJourney where the green card arrival induces an amazing change of behavior in the spouse. Some are able to put an act on for months or longer.

It helps a great deal when the petitioner wants so badly to believe, willing to overlook every red flag and magnify scraps of attention out of proportion. Positively giddy.

Mine is still putting on the act. Wow is she good. Very convincing. But deep down I know she's just stealing my DNA.
