Hey guys and girls. Tanya has her medical exam and interview next week, and her friend she stayed with in Moscow last time will be out of town for the two days she is there? Any suggestions on where to stay? We never had a need to get a hotel before because she stayed with her friend. She flies in to Moscow early Monday morning, and her medical exam is at 11 with the IOM. then the next morning she goes to the embassy interview at 0800 on December 7. she will then fly home after the interview in the evening. She only needs one night, so any ideas would be appreciated, or a fiancee of anyone's who can help her. we are hoping to find something cheap, but also safe for her. Let me know.

thanks.

My wife is one metro station from the embassy and she will share her room for nothing if you are interested.

OP's fiance needs a place for next week, not mid January.

My point exactly: lack of advance planning!

Interview days in Moscow are usually known around two months in advance. Enough time for planning all that needs to happen.

But everybody is different. Even so, I would have paid for the safest place for my wife to stay. In other words, I would not let my wife stay in a place I would not stay myself, unless there is no other alternative.

That's the one. My wife used her services during her interview and was more than satisfied.

Even better option.

One thing to keep in mind...your fiancee is cutting it very close with her schedule. Flying in and having the medical the same morning probably will work out but what if the flight gets delayed or even canceled? I had that happen to me in Russia and I didn't fly out until the next day.

And a few of us have had the medical exams go bad...meaning extra tests were required or some other bureaucratic nonsense came up that resulted in problems and/or delays. So getting the results the same day is not guaranteed.

As I said, it will probably all work out but, personally, I'd never schedule the medical and interview so tightly. I'd spend at least an extra day and allow for the unexpected.

Alla was telling me tonight that much of Europe is buried in snow and Moscow has record cold temps.

Back off Clueless, because you are.

This was a rescheduled interview and therefore the normal advance knowledge was not available.

Just curious - I vaguely remember that she had a problem with the medical exam last time and went back home. It was days before Chris knew what happened, right? What was the deal there? I probably missed a post somewhere.

I've been in PM correspondence and all seems valid (no real explanation about the missing time but let's overlook that for now).

She has her past vaccination records and understands to go to the interview "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead."

All we can pray for is a swift and successful interview; it seems like they are legit and have tons of evidence.

Chris M is a man of few words and posts it seems. Only his original post to be found in two pages of helpful replies...and without one thank you or acknowledgment. This includes a great offer to have his girl stay for free in Moscow by Henycat.

Maybe he's using the back channel? We'll soon see.

Remember that he has just started a new job. That may explain lack of airtime.
