Hello - My husband is on an F-1 visa here int he states. We have an approved I-130, so we decided to go the AOS route instead of the NVC back in Dublin. I submitted an I-485 (AOS) for my husband last week including and I-864 (Affidavit of Support). The check hasn't even been cashed yet.

I was supposed to start my new job on Monday, which is the one I listed on my I-864. Unexpectedly, my boss called on Friday and said it would be at least a month now before he has the funds for me to start. So, it looks like I will stay on unemployment for a bit longer. I am guessing it will probably be until after the holidays now. My Dad is a self-employed orthodontist. He makes good money and is happy to sponsor my husband. How do I go about correcting what I have sent in to the Chicago lock box?

You can't amend what you already sent until they ask you to. They may send an RFE or they may ask for an updated one at your interview. If you didn't send proof of current employment with this one, they will send you an RFE for that at least, so you will have an opportunity then to send back an amended 864. Good luck.

AOS for my husband

If the job you were meant to start was the one you listed on your I-864 how did you provide supporting evidence such as wage slips, tax returns and a letter from your employer to prove your income?

I provided my last three years of tax returns when I submitted the I-864 with the I-484 packet, but no other financial information. I did not include wage slips or an employer letter, because I thought I only needed them for the interview.
