I-864 - possible dumba$$ question

On part 1 - basis for applying (which right now is just my husband filling in the form) - which box do we check? Is it a. 'I am the petitioner filing for a relative' or d. I am the only joint sponsor'???

I thought a but my other half says its d - and having read thru the options I'm now not sure myself (you ever had that feeling confident deal but when someone questions it you think maybe THEY are right after all? lol - that's me right now!)

I figured I'd check with the experts here rather than risking an RFE.

We may need a joint sponsor - in which case I'm thinking they need their own I-864 and check box d for THAT one..

So..what's the right answer?

(I'm not proud - if I'm wrong I'm wrong! lol)

I'd like to ask a very similar question!

It looks like we're going to need my wife's mum/dad to be a joint sponsor. So am I right in thinking that on my wife's form she should check box 1 (a), and then whichever parent does the joint sponsorship should check box 1 (d) ?
