Hey friends,

I'm little worried now. I done a thorough blood checkup as a preparation for visa medical interview.I found slightly elevated bilirubin count. The doctor said nothing to worry, there is no jaundice to me as most people might have a slightly elevated count.

But he said it might be a problem in my visa medical checkup as they can't give a fitness certificated due to this.He is not sure.I don't have any other issues.....Do u have any idea ABOUT THE visa medical procedures and will it be a problem to me which can cause the visa denial?

That's sad to hear. Try to drink pure lemon juice for few days. It will cleanse your system and so your blood. I think your eating too much turmeric, too much is not good and toxic for the liver. If fasting is possible, do so. Try to eat more vegetables esp. green leafy vegetables and cut down rice and curries. Lemon is acidic but it breaks down into alkaline. I think your blood ph is below alkaline. I have learned about this recently from my fiance. I can't promise it will change right away but it will certainly help in time. Goodluck! I hope it will be OK. :star:

You still have chance to improve your health. Eat healthy food: more vegetables and fruits, less meat, less rice, and less curries. I know for sure that indians love curries. I love curries too! You can go back for check up again before your nOA2 arrives. Goodluck and wish you all the best!

I am a nurse btw, there are alot of reason why bilirubin is elevated. there are two types of bilirubin. the conjugated and unconjugated. did your doctor specified what type of bilirubin is elevated? there, we can have a hint of what could possibly wrong. alot of diseases could manifest an increase in bilirubin count. depends on what type of bilirubin is elevated. it could be hapetitis, could be a gall stone, could be cancer or etc.. im just saying there are alot of possibilities, im not saying you have all of what i mentioned.. the increase in bilirubin is just a symptom of an underlying cause. you might wanna ask your doctor to perform a liver enzyme tests, just to rule out any possible liver problem. although, sometimes, we have what do we call an idiopathic elevation of bilirubin. meaning, theres no known cause as to why it is elevated, but thats rare, most often than not. there is always a reason why bilirubin is elevated.

Milk thistle helps with liver issues....been known to reverse damage of hepatitis...maybe you only have hep A...goes away unlike B or C...no way to know until they do more detailed bloodwork. If you can afford it, do it now and take the milk thistle! If any of it is active you likely will need to be stabilized before coming over-I don't think having stabilized hep c disqualifies...anyhow-I can only speculate without proper bloodwork. Get liver function tests and a hepatitis panel.

The transaminases (ALT and AST)along with the Total Bili do indicate the possibility of liver injury. ALT is an enzyme specific to the liver. There are two types of fatty liver disease, one is alcohol related. The other is non-alcohol related due to obesity, diabetes, among other factors. Because your ALT is greater than your AST I would lean to the non-alcohol related fatty liver if that is indeed the cause. I would suggest you refrain from alcohol and I would even suggest also not using Motrin or Tylenol.

john_007,

As everybody is suggested, overcome this situation before you go to the medical with the U.S panel physician.

If still it persists at the medical, do the following:

Read the guide: http://www.cdc.gov/ncpdcid/dgmq/pdfs/hguide.pdfAlso, talk to the U.S panel physician about this, and possibly to the U.S Consulate as well.

Normally, they will be "more worried" about the communicable disease of public health. But, if they say you need a medical waiver, they will advise you.
