I just returned from Brazil where Jill & I exchanged rings and became officially engaged! I am already thinking about the holiday's and would love for her to come taste america while we wait out our September submitted I-129F. What are the odds of us getting her a visitors visa before Christmas or New Years? Is this very dangerous or even allowed while we wait on the K-1?! I am dying to get her here at least to visit! Thoughts...?

09/21/10 - I-129F Sent!

09/23/10 - I-129F Received in Dallas, TX

09/28/10 - Text & E-mail NOA1 (It was at 12:44AM, weird) Notification that our case was transferred to VSC.

09/29/10 - Check cashed

09/30/10 - NOA-1 Hard Copy dated Sep. 27, 2010

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

03/31/11 - NOA-2!

04/05/11 - Received NOA-2 hard copy.

04/07/11 - NVC Received

04/12/11 - Case left NVC via DHL

04/14/11 - Consulate Received Hard Copy of Case

She can apply for a visitors visa, and whether its approved or not will have no bearing on her K visa. HOWEVER... it is EXTREMELY hard to get a visitors visa while applying for a K-1. This being because the officials at the consulate, are automatically going to think she is trying to come over and marry and then adjust status.

To get a B2, she will have to prove strong ties to her home country (owned house, long lease, owned vehicle, job, bank account with money in it etc etc etc). There is also no guarentee that even if she gets the B2, that she will be allowed into the US.. its all up to CBP when she flies/drives in.

It could be a big waste of money, for some dissapointment. However, it will not harm your K visa process if she does apply for a B2.
