We got our I-797C,notice of action letter to appear for initial interview..Also included was a white letter that states if the applicant has ever been arrested or detained to bring arresting documents to the interview..does everyone get this white letter along with the letter to appear for interview...or is this white letter meant just for my husband,he's a little nervous, because he had a very petty arrest about 27 years ago,but there are no records anywhere of this arrest to be found.when he got his K-1 the lady said that this wasn't an issue at all.Thanks.

If he had a court hearing in front of a judge, then he should write to the court house where it took place. It is almost definite that they no longer have the records but they will write him back an official letter on letterhead stating that there are no records to be found and he can use that at the interview. If he can bring any sort of official letter from police, court, whatever, that the records no longer exist this should be fine.

I had a charge from 1982 of "Windsurfing without a Life jacket" on Lake Ontario (yep! :D ) for which I had a court appearance and a $10 fine. The only record I had of it was a newspaper article from the time covering the trial and talking about how ridiculous the recent targeting of windsurfers was (statement from the judge, actually!), and had to get a letter from the Courthouse stating that the records no longer exist. The letter came fairly quickly and was not a problem anywhere along the immigration journey.

Yeah, I confirm that I received it too although I've been a good kid all my life :)

I believe that the meaning of that letter is that if you have any criminal records not in the police certificate used at the visa stage (such as arrests or convictions at a later time) you must bring them to the interview.

If I were you I would bring anything you can get your hands on about this. It says in the letter to bring evidence for every arrest, charge, etc. not only those which you deem unimportant. The IO at the time will decide if they are a big deal or not.
