Cenomar for a CR-1 visa?

Good day all! I have read throughout the forums of people on a IR/CR-1 visa process getting to the Embassy interview and the cons requesting a *NEW* cenomar due to theirs expiring.... Anyone know the reason or logic behind this one??? Cenomar of singleness.. but we are married.... Doesnt really make ANY sense to me, but with our interview date coming up Dec 6th it has become a concern.. Thanks!

WHen a married Filipino request a Cenomar what they get is a Cemar that will list any and all marriage they have been in. This helps the CO determine if they were truly free to marry at the time of the wedding.

A Certificate of No Marriage Record (CENOMAR) is simply what its name implies. It is a certification issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) stating that a person has not contracted marriage, other then your current marriage

A CENOMAR is not a requirement for marriage. It is only essential if you want to be certain that the civil status of the person you are marrying is still single and that he or she is unattached. This may be important since any marriage contracted while another one is still subsisting is considered as null and void under Article 35 (4) of the Family Code of the Philippines for being bigamous. Moreover, bigamy (the contracting of a second or subsequent marriage before the former marriage has been legally dissolved, or before the absent spouse has been declared presumptively dead by means of a judgment rendered in the proper proceedings) is also punishable as a crime under Article 349 of the Revised Penal Code. So if you have doubts regarding the civil status of your future spouse, it might be a good idea to procure a CENOMAR .

So get one in your single name (maiden) and one in your (new married name)

You can now avail of a CENOMAR through the internet. The e-Census (www.e-census.com.ph) is an online facility that allows you to submit requests for Certificates of No Marriage. According to its website, for local requests, for copy issuance for CENOMAR (Singleness)

But in my option I would go in person.

But in my option I would go in person.

Thanks and comes to find out we need one titled "Cenmar,' I guess a NSO stamped copy of the marriage certificate isnt good enough as well as her Cenomar (Dated 8/2009) for the consular. I ordered 2 copies of the cenomar one in her maiden name and one in her married name, i dont think its going to get there in time for the interview though, so I guess we are going to go there, see what they require and go from there, if they require this EXTRA documentation then at least it will be there a day or two after the interview so we can easily submit it right away........ and I wonder if they have the option to allow her to just pick up the Visa instead of waiting for Air21 to deliver it..? Thanks guys

. For my wife it was less then a day to pick up the cert. As for the visa you will need a good explanation as why your requesting the pick-up at the embassy in 'most' cases. Frequently beneficiary receive the visa in 3-5 day.

yeah she mentioned that she did the Seminar, just waiting for the Visa to get the stamp.

For the future for anyone going through this part... they dont offer a "CenMar" at the NSO in Manila ... its called "Advisory of Marriage." You cannot obtain this document any sooner then 5 working days, per policies from the NSO in Manila.

I'm sure the NSO staff in Manila is overloaded with requests, and may take longer then an office in the provinces. But you will find many people have received the cert mush faster then five day's time..

On top of the certificate is (Advisory on Marriage) AKA CENOMAR
