Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think score is the music made for the movie and soundtrack is the music and other stuff...or something like that

Score is the music made for the "background" of the movie that's added in for drama, suspense, etc.

Soundtrack is existing songs that are played during the movie.

Amby just set us straight on the distinction between score and soundtrack, and now Bishop has to go and muddy it up again with 'scoretrack' :P What's a scoretrack?

Due to the title of this thread, scoretrack is pretty accurate since the OP talked about music from the movie plus songs added to it.

Best Score -

Best Music (Soundtrack) -

Forrest Gump also won awards for score and original music. Both won for sound and editing. Both are excellent examples of great sound in movies but Forrest Gump illustrates how the soundtrack is not necessarily the same as the score.

Ooh that sounds great! However, I'm inclined to be on the suspicious side and not believe it's their stuff. I read the other day that fake music got leaked, pretending to be the soundtrack.

Here's a good article called "3 things you didn't know about the Tron soundtrack" http://blogs.ocweekly.com/heardmentality/2010/11/three_things_you_didnt_know_ab.php

That's where I read it.

Hey, do you listen to Benny Benassi? Between Daft Punk and Benny Benassi, I don't know which I'd say I like better. But I know how you feel about Daft Punk, I practically drool when I listen to their music.

That track I posted is indeed their track, the video doesn't have the full length song though.

I listened to Benny Benassi a few years back, but my preference has changed since. This is more me:

I haven't listened to Crystal Method in aaages haha.

This is an amazing Indian fusion d&b track, one of my all time favourites

One of the best dubstep remixes of all time imo:

I don't know if you're familiar with the genre "Trip Hop" but Portishead and Massive Attack are worth looking into. I think you'd dig it (from what I can tell so far haha)

I like the second song more than the first. I've heard of trip hop (and Portishead) and I do like it but I guess I prefer more of the upbeat dance/house stuff, like Benny Benassi. It all started when I was 11 and playing minigolf in Richmond Hill (I see you're from Ontario so I'm going to guess you know where that is) and heard "Up and Down" by the Vengaboys. How awful, but I do still love that song.

What's dubstep?

What's dubstep?

Yeah, I had family in Richmond Hill haha. The Vengaboys are one of those "so bad they're good" groups haha

Dubstep comes in many forms and tempos. It's all very bass heavy... and the best way I can describe it is: when you listen to it, you picture either robots fighting in a war, or robots having sex

Rusko is a huge name in dubstep, and he hails from the UK (which is where a majority of the really good heavy, bass driven music comes from imo)

This is more "classic" dubstep

But like I said, it comes in a huge variety of styles and it's all easily accessible if you ever get the urge to find some that suits you.

Then there's also hardstyle which is way bigger in Europe than NA, but I'm addicted to it. High tempo, very heavy rhythmic bass. When seeing it played live you should feel like your heart is about to explode due to bass  Crappy youtube quality doesn't quite translate it, but if you get tracks with a good Kbps and play them on a serious system, you'll know what I'm talking about :P
