After the NOA2

Hi,

Carla (Canada) and I got our NOA2 notice of approval email this past Friday, 8/18/06.

I have a good idea of what I need to start gathering, but am curious... will the CSC send me some instructions in the snail mail, or just an official approval notice? I'm still waiting on that snail mail.

We were also wondering about the timing of things right after the wedding. We'd like an April 07 wedding in St Louis. If she was interviewed in Vancouver in say Nov 06, would we have enough time to file all the Post Wedding stuff? AOS, EAD, AP...

Thanks and may we all find patience

Gene

you'll receive your NOA2 in snail mail. next will be letter from NVC when you're assigned a case number and petition being sent to embassy. Before the interview at the embassy will be sent the Fiance Package. that's the only one instructions.

best of luck.

You will only get an official notice of approval from CSC.

People here generally advise not to make firm plans for a wedding. However, I think you have a sufficient buffer to accomodate your wedding date. Keep in mind that if you get through the Embassy quickly, you will only have 90 days to conduct the wedding, following your arrival. This may mean that you will need to wait in Canada for a while, prior to entering the U.S.

You may want to reevaluate your schedule, as the Embassy processing gets closer.

The aforementioned filings are done after the wedding.

Congrats on your approval.

Thank you both for the great info

I'm still a little unclear...does NVC then send me a list of things to gather? I've heard that's the stuff I send to my fiancee. There's a pretty good list on VJ I know.

No, NVC forwards your case to the applicable Embassy or Consulate. They do not supply the packet 3 information, that is sent to you from the Embassy. The list of items is long, but not that difficult to gather.

Perhaps you can check the U.S. Embassy Canada website, for information on the contents of packet 3.

Or you could try to call them. The hit miss ratio for actually getting this info in advance: about 80-20, 80 being not able. You can however, ask others that have done it recently. They can help.

Some of it can be accomplished in advance.

Call NVC (speak to a live operator), give them your NOA1 number and you'll be able to know when they've gotten from CSC and when they've sent your case to the consulate. NVC will send the petitioner a notice stating that the've forwarded the petition to the consulate. After getting it, they'll send you packet 3 (instructions on what kind of documents you'll need for the interview).

Sorry... the consulate will send packet 3 to the beneficiary .
