As we are preparing to file the affidavit of support, I am the US citizen sponsoring my husband.

1. Since living overseas I have not filed taxes in the US for the last 10 years.( do i need to file now claiming my overseas income?)

2. Our asssets are at a bare minimum. Should I have a sibling in the US sponsor my husband? Whats the minimum or "cut off" amount?

3. Our yearly household income here in Greece is well above average, will these filing be accepted if we have no US filings?

we are filing DCF by the way

thanks!!

1. You must backfile for at least the last three years.

2. I would recommend using the co-sponsor, as assets must be easily liquidated, and embassies often want to see them US based and comfortably above the povertyline. The minimum for them is 125% of the povertyline for their household plus the immigrant, or 5 times that much is assets.

3. No, because this income will not continue once you immigrate to the USA.
