I had my parents sign the forms when I was visiting them in Belarus a few months ago. I would suggest you call NVC at (603) 334-0700 and ask whether a scanned copy is OK. I assume it is OK but would call to double check.

Also, as per http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3194.html:

Are there any specific DS-230 instructions?

Please fill out the DS-230 Part I and Part II completely. Mark questions that do not apply to the applicant with “N/A”.

Note: You should only sign Part I. Part II of the form you will sign during your visa interview.

Questions

If your have any questions about completing the DS-230 Part I, please contact the National Visa Center (NVC) @ (603) 334-0700

Good luck!

I called NVC from the number you gave me, the ds-230 both part 1 and part 2 needs to be mailed to NVC they dont take photocopies or scanned, its either mailed from Philippines or sent to us then mailed to NVC, i would tell my wife's parents to send it to us here in florida and we will forward to NVC, its easier to track if mailed in US to NVC than Philippines to NVC.

I will be sending the i-864 this week and hopefully will get the ds-230 mailed to NVC by next week.

I didnt know i needed all that, thanks for letting me know they have all the stuff but we were wondering when they will need it, i will have them send it to us so we can forward to NVC thanks again

You NEED to send all those docs and pictures (biographic data NVC called them) with parents' DS-230. Your case will not be completed until NVC receives those docs (originals plus certified translations, if not in English.

It is better to mail DS-230 with all the docs together.

Have you mailed the Affidavit of Support yet?

Good luck!

Hello everyone and Happy Holidays! Just was hoping to find someone who sent his or her I-130 for parents in October 2010 or around that time. What is your status now? I filed for both parents on Oct 4, 2010 and received NOA1 on October 8, 2010. Since then both applications have been "touched" once with the last update on October 18, 2010. It's been only 2 months since I sent the forms but I am wondering if anyone got his or her NOA2 yet if you filed in the summer for example. Both of my applications were sent to California Service Center. Thanks and good luck to all of you!

/hello,

My sister filed I-130 for both of my parents last June 2010, already send to NVC about the choice of agent and also paid AOS online last JAN 4, 2011. After that, she don't hear news or updates of the application. It's been already 9 months since.

I've seen in your case / timeline that you send affidavit of support to NVC after AOS was paid . Did the NVC advise you to send it to them or not? I just think maybe because my sis failed to send that document that is why it takes so long. Pls help me enlighten.

appreciate your response

Sorry to hear your sister lost so much time! With NVC, it is better to be proactive! So now, she should call NVC as soon as possible. Here is the link to NVC Contact info: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3177.html)

She should talk to an operator to update her email address and to get the most recent case status update NVC number (603) 334-0700. Hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

Also, if your sister has an Invoice Identification number, let her log in to the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center. She can use this link: https://ceac.state.gov/CTRAC/Invoice/signon.aspx

From there, she can print Document Cover Sheets that need to be attached to both AOS and DS-230 packages.

It is better to always include these Cover Sheets because NVC use them to track your case. In other words, with these Cover Sheets this process will go faster.

So, please ask her to call NVC first and go from there!

Good luck to you! And let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes. Sorry to dissapoint you.

$420 to USCIS for each I-130.

$88 to NVC for AOS

$404 to NVC for each immigrant visa so your parents (or whoever you are applying for) do not need to pay for their visa during the interview.

Good luck!

Well it's US immigration.. know who you're dealing with... so in addition to what is said above .. you should consider the Medical Appointment Fee.. DHL/other fee for Visa Delivery, Airplane Ticket. it gets pricey.
