Can anyone please describe the required EMPLOYMENT DOCUMENTATION for applying for a B1 Business Visa (from Ukraine).

My girlfriend would like to attend a business seminar in the states. She works in advertising/marketing/events planning... but

"records" of her current employment are bit sketchy. She applied for a straight Tourist Visa some months ago (DEE-NIED) and

provided information from a previous employer (I think).

So I'm worried about the embassy calling/doing background checks on her actual current employment and finding out the

docs don't match the actual employer right now. (Not to mention my fears of when/if we apply for K1 and the docs don't match).

Anyways: The main question is: Can anyone really describe in detail how the embassy looks at the employment docs? Do the

call the employer? Do you need a letter from the employer sending you to the US for the seminar etc?

I've seen some of you who have SUCCESSFULLY gotten B1 Visas, can you describe the circumstances, conditions and process

you used to secure this Visa? How was the interview process / what docs did you provide / why were you coming to the US

for Business (was it to attend a seminar or training, or do just visit a business partner in the US etc?)

I'm very interested in finding out how we can bring her here for a week or two to attend a seminar, then of course spend time

together while she's here. She has a great job in Ukraine and is not ready for a K1 yet so we're looking at a B1.

Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it!!!

Your post is somewhat confusing.

If her employer wants her to attend a US Seminar then she would as well as the usual documentation supply supporting information on the seminar she wants to attend, its relevance to her employer.

Her employer is not going to incur the not unsubstantial cost of sending her to a US Seminar without a good reason.

I am sure the Consulate have come across all the scams out there.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

This is kinda sketchy.......she wants to attend some business seminar, which her employeer is not sending her ???

She has been denied once and then she has a different employeer and she is again applying for B1, this all sounds like a scam where she is just trying to enter US anyway she can.

If she has great job and in Ukraine, then how would she manage when she will be applying for K1????

Consulate keeps all the reocrds and they have everything at their finger tip, even something you told them 10 yrs back.

If she was already denied previously, what have changed since then?

New employer? If it comes with a good salary, it may make a difference. Letter from the inviting company in the US would help (showing that they want her to attend those workshops or whatever) and letter from her employer stating her position, salary, date of hire, prospects to remain employed, reasons to attend the workshop and expected date of return - may work.

I understand what you are doing. K1 visa is not a good choice for her if she say, never met you or met you once or twice. She may not be sure if she's ready for marriage (and that is a good sign).
