Why?

The Church has reversed its position on using contraceptives to, among other things, prevent the spread of STDs - yet still holds antiquated positions on other areas of human sexuality.

I'd say the vatican is as irrelevant to average catholics as it has always been.

Yeah. The church says if you find out your friend had sex with a prostitute you should shun your friend. Antiquated indeed. I couldn't agree with you more.
