Packing and Mailing I-751

Hi, Everybody!:)

First off, I would just like to share that the Application fee fro I-751 already increased from $545 to $590. The base application fee is now $505 and the biometric service fee is $85.

It can be found here

Now on to my queries. I actually found a lot of answers here in VJ but I just want everybody's opinion on this. Today is Nov.,24,2010. We are planning to send out our I-751 yesterday, but we got confused by what the guy at the Postal Office told us about mailing through Express Mail. We have our I-751 in a brown envelope package labeled "Original Submission of: _______ USCIS California Service Center,Laguna Nigel...."

He said that we can send it through Express Mail for only $18.30 so we said ok, but he started to rip off the brown envelope I got upset, because, we did not put it in a folder, we fastened it with ACCO fastener and just paper clipped my form I-751 and the check. I didn't want to have holes punched on my form. And since he was in a rush, it was 2 mins before closing, I stopped him before everything got ripped and wrinkled and told him I will just mail it tomorrow. However, tomorrow is a day before Thanksgiving. My husband and I can't decide whether to send it via Express Mail or Priority Mail. The guy said if I put it in the brown envelope and Mail it Express Mail it will cost more. I am concerned if we mail it Priority Mail it might get lost along the way because of the holidays. Do you think I should just put it in a folder instead of a brown envelope to fit in the Express Mail flat rate envelope? or should I just Priority Mail it, even if I am concerned with the Holidays coming up and there are a lot of mail? I know this has been answered lots of times, but I just want to get an opinion right now. Thank you soo much.:)

jkelly07 is correct.

We sent our priority mail with delivery confirmation, and it was just fine. However, I can understand your concern about the holidays.

Make sure you write on the envelop "Attention: I-751 petition to remove conditions of status" under the address so it gets transferred to the correct department quicker.

Weird.

I sent my ROC "package" (17-or-so pages), all in a manila envelope, via Express Mail.

On a different note: had a post office clerk ripped off my envelope, I would have ripped off his head and used it as a bowling ball.

:bonk:

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
