moving to beneficiary's country while petition is in progress?

Hey all, I tried to search about this before, but didn't get a definitive answer....I am thinking about moving to Colombia( I was initially just going for X-Mas) to be with my wife while we are going through the whole visa process. I am a couple weeks away from NOA2, but as many of you know, that is just the beginning of all. I have my sponsor lined up, and I do have people that would help me to mail visa related forms stateside, but could moving there be a major problem at the interview? I won't be going down the DCF route because I have the visa petition in progress for my wife....Anyone gone through this situation at all? Could the decision to move there hurt my wife's chances at a visa? Thanks in advance. :thumbs:

7/2/10- NOA1

2/9/11- NOA2 (transferred to Texas)

NVC

2/28/11- case number received

3/2/11- Paid AOS bill

3/5/11- Paid IV bill

3/12/11- expedite to Bogota consulate approved!!!

3/14/11- left NVC to Bogota for further processing

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

3/31/11- Interview date! Approved!!!!!!

It won't hurt the visa, as you have a co-sponsor lined up. If anything, it will help show you have a genuine relationship.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

2/28/11- case number received

3/2/11- Paid AOS bill

3/5/11- Paid IV bill

3/12/11- expedite to Bogota consulate approved!!!

3/14/11- left NVC to Bogota for further processing

3/17/11- received by Bogota, emailed consulate and was told to send DS-230 and DS-2100 (packet 3)

3/18/11- packet 3 emailed to Bogota consulate, email confirmation on March 23

3/31/11- Interview date! Approved!!!!!!

It wont hurt it can help you... I did the same, I went to the colombian embassy here in the states and got a Colombian Visa, that way I can live in Colombia for more that a 2 months. The important thing is to maintane rescidency in the states.

The day my wife had her interview they asked me where I was living and I told them in Colombia, they ask to see my passport and visa. That was the best thing for us, since it showed that we really were living together.

Great to hear from personal experience! Yeah I already have a TC visa...have to get a new one though unfortunately because it has been more than 180 days outside of colombia..theres another $165! Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it!
