I am in a fix, i just a notice of appointment for a biometrics to be on 3/12/2010 and i also have a medical appointment on same day to see my doc because i had some surgery in October and have been out of work ever since. My fixation is this, currently my employment is tied to the doctors decision as i am on family medical leave currently and they expect me back as soon as the doctor leaves me off the hook which maybe unlikely cos of more complications with the surgery.

I am currently thinking to risk driving 200+ miles to USCIS Forth Smith Arkansas, to walk in, explain my condition and possibly have my biometric or do i reschedule my medical and go for biometric on 3/12/2010. I have thought if i reschedule the biometric, it might be fixed in 2011, way too long; besides if i should get back to work by then, i would have no sick time nor vacation time to allow me honor my apt as distance is far. Please does anyone know from experience if the USCIS Forth Smith AR allows walk in? And should i go with my wife for the bio? Please kindly advise. Thank you my people.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

If you are willing to make the drive then give it a try. Hopefully someone will have experience with the Fort Smith, Arkansas Application Support Center and let you know about any early biometrics or if there is one day over another that has been successful for walk-ins. I know some places seem to have no problems on a Wednesday, for example.

Bring along proof of your prior commitment - and it certainly sounds like a valid one - and give it a try. Explain that you had to drive 2f00 miles to get there and hope that they can accommodate you as after your doctor's appointment you won't be able to arrange the time off. The best that can happen is that they can accommodate you and do the biometrics. The worse is that they will say no but accept your request to re-schedule and you will have some ability to indicate a better time for you to attend.

I had to reschedule one biometrics appointment as I received it 2 days before we were flying out of town for a holiday and it was scheduled for the day before our return. I requested a reschedule and the new appointment was about 5 weeks later from the one that I couldn't make, so it may not be too long a wait if that is what happens.

Good luck.

good luck on your surgery, there is no gaurantee the applaction center will let you get biometrics,i would go it's a long drive but i would go walk in,show your appointment letter, your passport, driver license, green card, ...just if you have a problem ask for a manager, explain why you need it done now, bring some medical papers, not to worry people do walk ins all the time, finger prints, photo, signature, good luck. happy thanksgiving.

Thank you for your responses so far. I think i would give "walk in" a try. Now i'm contemplating going on friday, ie a day after thanksgiving as going on monday or tuesday maybe exceptionally busy after a long holiday weekend. What you'all think?

Probably you should wait until next week. Since they close on Thursday, they might get more people than usual and the same goes to the beginning of next week. I would wait until Wednesday to give it a shot - that's just me though...
