Hello everyone,

I was wondering if you can decline your vaccination shots? My fiancee and I decided to try to make a family once she gets here. I hear that we need to wait 3 months if she gets a certain shots. Please let me know.

Thanks

i don't think she HAS to get them for the k1, but she will def need to get them for the AOS...would you rather she wait 3 months to get preggers, or have to get potentially harmful vaccinations while pregnant?

3 months with a condom on won't hurt you for one, and sometimes it can take months of trying anyways to get knocked up. took me 9 months of active trying with baby #1, 6 months with #2 and 3 months with #3, and believe me, when i say active, i mean ACTIVE

also, they say 3 months preferably after the mmr shot, but as long as it's more than 4 weeks it's usually fine.

and are you sure she hasn't already had an mmr?

I don't know of any immunizations that preclude one from becoming pregnant.

it's the mmr, mostly the rubella part of it i believe. if you google it it will tell you wait at least 28 days, preferably 3 months before getting pregnant, and if you are of age to be pregnant then they will usually do a test on you to make sure you aren't before administering the shot.

I've seen some cases where they refused the vaccinations for religious purposes; however correct me if I'm wrong...it requires a waiver. This could postpone your case and cause more fees and risk complications. In my opinion I would rather have my loved one finish the process sooner and then just wait the three months. That's not a long time when you are with the one you love. You've waited this long already.

Good Luck

Yes it does require a waiver as well as mountains of proof for the religious believe as well as being part of the religion. Takes forever to get it approved if you can at all.

To the OP, If the medical is incomplete I dont think they will issue her a visa.

Besides if you dont have the MMR shot the baby could be at big risk.

"Info for K-1's

It's worth getting your immunisations updated before the medical. Most adults will only need MMR and TDaP boosters. These are usually available free from your GP. Most children will require Hep B. Your GP will probably charge for these. You do not need to have any immunisations completed before your visa application, but it is required for your AOS after marriage. Some applicants have had problems with finding reasonably-priced Civil Surgeons in the US and complications with the required I-693 form the AOS process requires.

It is therefore recommended that you get all of your AOS required vaccinations completed prior to the medical - or at the medical so they can be recorded on the DS3025. "

you don't need it for k1, though they prefer it, and they might not KNOW you don't need it since most ppl just get it or have already had them.

also, on the religious exemption, that flies for citizens, i have that for myself and my kids, but that is part of my right as a citizen, and since as of the filing of the aos, she won't be a citizen, she does not have that right, so while she can attempt it, they will investigate her background to check if it's true or not, and when they turn up that it's not, they will probably deny her for fraud. just wait at least a month to try and get her pregnant, what's the rush anyways?

Waiting can't hurt anything, and it will be much less stressful on your wife if all her paperwork is in order before she becomes pregnant. One less thing to worry about.

What I would suggest u and your fiance, is to get her rubella blood serology tested, with that test you can determine if she even needs the rubella vaccine same you can do with measles, mumps and variccella. She should go to her regular gynacologist or physcian and talk about the vaccination issue there. YOu can get the vaccination schedule for the USA from the internet. As far as I know the neccessary vaccinations if not already gotten. Are: Tetanus, deptheria, pertussis (Td/tdap); varicella, and MMR.

Check out www.vaccineinformation.org or www.immunize.org or www.cdc.gov

I believe some doctors will not give certain vaccinations if you are already pregnant, because of a risk to the baby, but the vaccines on the list here are required. If she is missing any of the ones on the list, she should try to get them at home as soon as possible since most people find the shots are much more expensive in the US, and not having them *can* delay your case.

Did you know that a K-1 does NOT technically have any vaccination requirements?

or

Since you have known about this for some time, why did your fiancee get vaccinated a month or two ago?

or

I bet she is a month or three yet from being here... just get it done...

YMMV

She went to her medical last week and they did not give it to her because she has to go through sputum culture.

What if you say we are trying to get pregnant?
