We received two more letters today! You would think that might clear things up... no? They were identical to the one we already received, except the date was Nov 23 instead of Nov 19. Something has gone kooky at the CSC. It's actually quite amusing.

I just wish we'd get the dang RFE if we have one, as my husband will be out of the country for a while and it would be nice to get whatever we need before he takes off.

We have the Infopass appointment on Friday so I'll report in if I hear anything. I might as well try calling tomorrow too.

I got the exact same thing. Two more letter identical to the first, but the date was the 23. Very weird!

We are in the same boat. After the online status was changed to RFE we have since received 3 of the weird biometrics letters (first on 11/19, two on 11/23rd). DH has an Infopass appt tomorrow to get the I-551 stamp (is it ironic that we never received the original NOA1??).

Today I received a response to my E-mail from CSC-NCSC:

The system shows you have taken your biometrics November 5, 2010 and they are on the system, picture, thumb print and signature.

Your finger prints are also noted completed. Please disregard the new request.

Thanks,

Officer McClellan

So as I (we) expected, this notice is being sent out in error, of course I can't guarantee anything for others but since this is the response i got it's pretty safe to state you shouldn't worry about the weird letter.

Back to waiting for approval it is then :P

I haven't been able to figure out from you guys if these strange bio appontments notices are always send in conjunction with RFE messages on the internet messaging system. If not, RFE is real I guess but not follewed by the right letter? Please, let me know if you guys have been able to figure this out.

Couple of people have been for bio on 11-08 (incl. myself). Screwup with bio processing that day perhaps?

It seems to be useless to research this but it's kind of fun. :)

I have no RFE messages on the internet status (is that what you mean by "internet messaging system?), my status on there has remained the same (Initial Review) ever since my biometrics appointment (that was on 11/5, not 11/8 but was received on 11/8 I guess, or well online it states my CRI89 PETITION was received 11/8 :P)

Am I really the only one p-ed off by this? how can it be that the have not figured out what on earth went wrong and instructed their officers how to respond, it has been what? 3 weeks now? and still everyone here gets a different response from their local cis officer. if i call my cellphone provider they are able to pull up a log, they know what i called about before, how many times and what i have been told. but nooo every time i call cis they have no clue whatsoever. do they really not understand how frustrating this is for us? our bloody lives in this country depend on these responses but they do not give a rip. we pay a lot of money that is supposedly administrative fees but there is no administration to be seen.

can they really not get their act together? create 1 centralized server? or even just send anyone that filed in the last few months an official letter that if you received a NOA about coming back for biometrics you may disregard this letter?

any non governmental agency would have been heavily scoulded by a mistake of this magnitude but cis? they just leave it for what it is..

guess i needed to vent (again).. sorry

Yeah, it's ridiculous. My husband took the day off of work to go to our Infopass appointment today. The lady who checked us in was excited to see the letters. She said the officers had heard about the letters and had wondered if anyone was going to come in about it. So we were the first (in San Francisco).

The officer we spoke with didn't have anything of use to offer. But she sent a message to CSC asking them to get on with the RFE if we have one, since our status says we do but there isn't one on our record. One funny note, she asked me "What did you send with your application?" like it was just a thing or two. I told her we sent 65 pages of bank statements, insurance, car registration, lease, affidavits, photos WITH table of contents. Her response was, something like well, you never know maybe you got someone who didn't feel like looking through all that stuff... say wha...?? You can't win with these people. They tell us to send all this stuff, then they don't want to look at it.

Anyway - the message she sent to the CSC was pretty funny, it said basically that these people sent you 65 pages of stuff, what more could you need? When I told her I thought it might be the 2009 tax transcript that we didn't have (we had filed an extension and I included that) she said that would be ridiculous, it's not like you have a fake marriage if you didn't have your official transcript for one year. Um, yeah I agree but unfortunately this woman is not the one calling the shots.

So that's the big anti-climactic infopass appointment (oh, we went in for a 551 stamp and she wouldn't give it to us unless she confiscated his green card. Huh?)

Well, this woman told me that I wouldn't have to do anything since biometric data was in their system. Also, no RFE information was visible in their system except from the RFE message in the online system. Usually she would see why a RFE is issued. In my case she was not able to see anything missing at this point.

To make sure, she recommended that I would send them a copy of the 'RFE' letters I've been receiving and the original ASC notice stamped by ASC. That way there will be activity on their side as they have to process information I send upon their request. So not required but just to make sure my case gets resumed.

In my case 1st RFE message dated November 19th (status update 20th), 2nd dated November 26th (status update 26th). I did not do anything until last Friday (dec 3th) but saw my case was touched on november 29th. Seems the case is not totally suspended. my copies will probably get in this week so hope to see a status update 'case resumed' sometime this week or otherwise a letter with the real RFE information.

hummm, so the plot thickens... am i correct in assuming you guys actually have a changed online status?

mine never changed... my online status is: "11/08/2010, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED", 3 days after my biometrics appointment. whereas the dreaded RFE letter is dated 18/08/2010 (a week later) but never showed up on the USCIS case status page.

so what is your online status? (and how do you see it was touched?)
