Now, I know I haven't gotten this far, hells bells I haven't even submitted the I-129F yet, but... something confuses me. Why in the description of Packet 3 is there a DS-230 (Application for Immigrant Visa) and DS-156 (Application for NonImmigrant Visa). Could someone do me the favor of explaining this for me?

Who knows. My fiance asked me that today! I told him just fill it out, don't worry about it! :P

I wondered about this too. I think it's because they need the info for the non-immigrant visa (since the K1 is a non-immigrant visa) but also the info for the immigrant visa since they know your intent is to stay in the US.

I dunno. Just a guess. :P

K1 visas are nonimmigrant visas processed as immigrant ones.

To clarify that a bit:

Your Fiance enters the US as a non-immigrant. DS-156

After marriage, you adjust status (AOS), which then makes you an immigrant. DS-230

Thanks, William. I got a bit sloppy...

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.
